Job description
Womanity Portrait Foundation provides portrait photography, storytelling, wellness retreats, exhibitions, and healing-centered arts programs for women impacted by breast cancer. Strong community partnerships help women learn about these programs through trusted healthcare providers, support organizations, community groups, and local institutions.
The Board Director of Community Partnerships & Outreach will help Womanity reach more women, develop meaningful collaborations, secure donated services and program spaces, and build stronger connections throughout San Diego County. This person will play an important role in making sure their programs are visible, accessible, and connected to the communities they are designed to serve.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Key Responsibilities- Develop partnerships with hospitals, oncology centers, breast cancer organizations, wellness providers, community groups, arts organizations, museums, businesses, and public agencies
- Identify opportunities for participant referrals, program collaborations, exhibitions, donated services, venues, sponsorships, volunteer recruitment, and community outreach
- Participate in board meetings, planning, and organizational decisions
- Help establish annual partnership and outreach priorities
- Advise the board on community engagement and relationship development
- Support the organization’s growth throughout San Diego County and nearby communities
- Help develop a future outreach or partnerships committee
- Collaborate with other board members on fundraising, marketing, programs, and volunteer recruitment
- Seek donated professional services, program materials, venues, food, transportation, and other in‑kind support
- Help introduce the organization to potential sponsors and community supporters
- Represent Womanity at selected meetings, presentations, networking events, and community gatherings
- Recruit volunteers, facilitators, wellness professionals, and other program partners
- Maintain clear records of outreach, conversations, follow‑ups, and partnership opportunities
- Help prepare partnership presentations, outreach materials, and introductory communications
- Follow up consistently with prospective and current partners
- Strong relationship‑building and communication skills
- Comfortable introducing the organization and speaking about its mission

- Genuine interest in supporting women affected by breast cancer
- Experience in community engagement, partnership development, healthcare outreach, social services, nonprofit leadership, public affairs, business development, volunteer coordination, arts administration, breast cancer support, or community organizing is helpful but not required.
- Existing relationships with San Diego County hospitals, cancer centers, nonprofits, museums, businesses, public agencies, or women-centered organizations would be valuable.
Time Commitment: Approximately 3-4 hours per week, including one board meeting per month, with a minimum commitment of one year. Some responsibilities can be completed remotely, but regular participation in community meetings, networking opportunities, programs, or events in San Diego County will be encouraged.
Onboarding Process: Selected applicants will participate in an introductory interview with the Founder, followed by a conversation with members of the board. Final candidates may be asked to provide professional references and examples of relevant community engagement, partnership development, healthcare outreach, nonprofit, or leadership experience. The selected candidate will review the organization’s bylaws, board expectations, conflict‑of‑interest requirements, confidentiality practices, current programs, partnership history, and outreach priorities. The application and onboarding process is expected to take approximately 2-4 weeks.
