Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Communications Specialist to join our team! In this role you will get to work hand and hand with all disciplines within emergency responders.
Parsons is seeking a Public Outreach Director to develop and grow a regional communications practice focused on public infrastructure on behalf of major infrastructure clients. Parsons brings comprehensive solutions to our clients as we partner with them to deliver their vision. Effective communication - with users, stakeholders, and the local community - is critical to delivering that mission.
The practice involves the design and execution of project-based public outreach and community relations plans for complex transportation infrastructure projects during the preliminary design/NEPA phase and construction. With the goal of creating project awareness and understanding, , the project and client-facing support position will require expert skill and experience in a variety of internal and external communication strategies, plus the ability to create strong relationships with impacted local residents and businesses, community/business organizations, elected officials, regulatory agencies, the client-owner, and company-internal constituents.
Responsibilities:
  • Developing strategic outreach plans, creating digital and print content, and managing public awareness campaigns to support Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Services
  • Creating and reviewing meeting minutes for various TIM stakeholder meetings
  • Tracking, maintaining, and submitting training records and certificates for trained attendees
  • Developing strategies and tactics to effectively and efficiently engage and increase stakeholder participation
  • Working closely with Parsons award-winning Creative Team and other team members to produce visually appealing materials
  • Leading a team of Communication Analysts activities and work product
  • Organize and host public outreach events, including public meetings/hearings, stakeholder committee group meetings, and community event attendance
  • Effectively represent projects and clients in public
  • Prepare conference materials, PowerPoints, etc.
  • Prepare and deliver other marketing material and communication publications for various large events

Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism (or equivalent)
  • 7 + years of directly related work experience
  • Experience working in public sector communications
  • Experience in media relations
  • Experience with transportation and/or other large infrastructure projects
  • Understanding the project development and NEPA processes desirable
  • Exemplary professional attitude and demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, good judgment, and excellent customer service and support, is required, as is the ability to interface effectively with a variety of people

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient experience in multiple communication channels (e.g., Social Media) and digital content development
  • Knowledge of TIM services and all disciplines
  • Ability to travel as needed (some overnight)
  • Ability to attend in-person meetings at the direction of the Project Manager

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
