Position Summary
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for creating meaningful opportunities that foster connection, belonging, and engagement through Jewish life, traditions, learning, recreation, and community partnerships. This position develops and coordinates innovative programs that welcome individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and identities while strengthening the JCC's role as a vibrant center of Jewish life and community.
Working collaboratively across departments and with community organizations, clergy, volunteers, and external partners, the coordinator helps expand the JCC's reach through engaging experiences that build relationships, celebrate community, and inspire lifelong participation.

Community Programming
- Plan, coordinate, and implement engaging community programs for all ages with a focus on under engaged age groups.
- Develop meaningful programming around the Jewish calendar, including holiday celebrations and cultural events.
- Coordinate and expand Kehillah Sports programming to foster community Israeli and Jewish athletes in sports.
- Develop creative Mahjongg experiences beyond lessons and drop-in play, including tournaments, leagues, themed events, and social gatherings.
- Partner with Marketing to promote programs and communicate opportunities to members and the broader community.
- Oversee Your Jewish Journey - programming for the Your Jewish transition Chavura.
- Camp Leadership position summer 2027 with 3-5 hours a week supporting camp starting in May.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Jewish Life and Learning.
Inclusive Engagement
- Create opportunities that encourage relationship building through shared interests and hobbies.
- Research and develop new programming ideas that increase engagement and community participation.
- Monitor community trends and participant feedback to recommend new opportunities for engagement.
- Coordinate and support programming and partnerships that foster an inclusive and welcoming community.
- Assist with creating educational resources and experiences that help staff incorporate Jewish content into programs across the organization.
- Build and maintain relationships with synagogues, schools, community agencies, and local partners.
- Coordinate collaborative initiatives that expand the JCC's impact and visibility.
- Identify and cultivate new partnerships that support community engagement across all ages and stages of life.
- Assist with developing new initiatives that respond to community interests and emerging needs.
- Collaborate with volunteers, community leaders, clergy, and partner organizations to ensure successful program implementation.
- Represent the JCC at community events.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Jewish Studies, Education, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience coordinating community programs, events, or nonprofit initiatives.
- Knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions, culture, and contemporary Jewish life, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse community members and partner organizations.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating as part of a team.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and community events.

Abuse Risk Management
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with participants
- Attend required abuse risk management training
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high risk activities and supervising participants
- Report inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate with others. Additional physical requirements include bending, crouching, reaching and lifting.

Working Conditions
This position is full-time, 32 hours per week. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with the occasional evening and weekend, as needed.
