Job description

Community Manager

Red Games Co. is looking for a strategic, creative, and hands on Community Manager to build and engage player communities while supporting the successful launch of a new game!

This role will help shape the player facing strategy for a new title, with a particular focus on launching and managing games on Steam. The ideal candidate has firsthand experience preparing a Steam store page, coordinating its content and visual assets, developing a pre-launch community, and supporting a game through announcement, launch, and post-launch engagement.

This is more than a social media role. We are looking for someone who understands how community, content, platform presence, and product strategy work together to generate awareness, wishlists, engagement, and long-term player loyalty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the community and content strategy for game announcements, Steam launches, major updates, and other product milestones.
  • Create, launch, and maintain high-quality Steam store pages, including written content, screenshots, trailers, capsules, key art, feature descriptions, and announcements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external artists to develop Steam page assets that meet platform requirements and effectively communicate the game’s identity.
  • Understand and support Steam specific opportunities such as wishlists, Steam Next Fest, demos, community hubs, curator outreach, reviews, and events.
  • Monitor launch performance and use player feedback and platform data to recommend improvements to messaging, positioning, content, and the product experience.
  • Develop and execute community strategies that build awareness, excitement, trust, and long-term engagement.
  • Establish and manage communities across Steam, Discord, Reddit, social platforms, and other relevant channels.
  • Identify emerging player concerns, sentiment shifts, and opportunities, and communicate actionable insights to internal teams.
  • Write and publish developer blogs, Steam announcements, product updates, FAQs, social posts, and community spotlights.
  • Partner with development teams to communicate known issues, fixes, roadmap changes, and updates transparently.
  • Define and track community and launch KPIs, including Steam wishlists, follower growth, engagement, sentiment, content performance, Discord participation, and review trends.
  • Prepare concise reports with recommendations for improving community health, launch readiness, and player engagement.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in community management, product marketing, communications, or a related role within the gaming industry.
  • Direct experience supporting at least one game launch on Steam.
  • Demonstrated experience creating, launching, or managing a Steam store page and its associated content and visual assets.
  • Strong understanding of the Steam ecosystem, including wishlists, demos, festivals, community hubs, reviews, announcements, and post-launch updates.
  • Experience developing community and content strategies across multiple stages of a game’s lifecycle.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience producing developer blogs, announcements, patch notes, social content, and player-facing updates.
  • Experience briefing, sourcing, or coordinating art and video assets for Steam pages, social platforms, and community campaigns.
  • Working knowledge of Discord, Reddit, Steam Community, and major social platforms.
  • Able to analyze community sentiment and performance data and turn findings into clear recommendations.
  • Calm, thoughtful, and professional when responding to criticism, conflict, launch issues, or unexpected changes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Steamworks and Steam page asset requirements.
  • Basic visual-content skills using tools such as Photoshop, Canva, Premiere, After Effects, or similar programs.
  • Familiarity with community and social analytics tools.
  • A strong understanding of how community activity supports product positioning, wishlist growth, conversion, retention, and long-term game health.
