The Job
The Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations is now hiring for an Assistant Clinic Unit Manager. This position will work closely with the Clinic Unit Manager by assisting with the supervision of staff at assigned Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Public Health Clinics. This recruitment will be used to fill a vacancy for a High Desert position located at the Hesperia Public Health Clinic.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and direct the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants assigned to the Clinics.
  • Ensures smooth workflow for patient service delivery; establish work, priorities, deadlines, and performance standards for clinical support staff.
  • Under direction of the Clinic Unit Manger assists with the development of goals and objectives for performance improvement and quality management activities.
  • Assist in leading the development and implementation of orientation programs, in-services, and education programs for clinical support staff in collaboration with Nurse Educators.
  • Assist with work performance evaluations; disciplinary actions and hiring.
  • Prepares schedules and oversees with payroll time and attendance processing which includes approving time off.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care by assuring assignments are made on the basis of knowledge, skills and competency level with consideration for the needs of each patient.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of continuous patient experience improvement efforts.
  • Perform professional nursing duties as needed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of Charge Nurse or Lead experience in outpatient primary care, ambulatory or clinic setting. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management or related field is highly desired.
