Position Overview
The Community Relations and Events Manager is an experiential marketing leader charged with driving audience growth, brand performance, and community engagement across KSL's portfolio of business units through partnerships, events and brand experiences. This role oversees an events team and serves multiple business units including television, radio, podcast, sports and online marketplaces.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Brand & Marketing, this manager serves as a key member of the marketing leadership team, working alongside creative directors and marketing managers to strategize and execute the types of partnerships and events that will build KSL's brand and audience in the community
This role also serves as one of KSL's primary external relationship builders - connecting the company's mission to the civic, charitable, and business organizations that matter most to our audience and to our brand.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
  • This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers.

What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Community Relations
  • Serve as a representative of KSL at community events, fundraisers, civic meetings, board functions, and industry gatherings, reflecting the company's values and brand with consistency and purpose.

  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions and business leaders across Utah.

  • Leverage community relationships to create partnership opportunities, co-branded campaigns, and activations that support KSL's marketing and business objectives.

  • Plan and oversee events to make sure on-site community activations are smooth and reflect KSL marketing objectives and brand values

Events Management

  • Manage event budgets to ensure organizational ROI co-exists with exceptional community experiences

  • Coordinate vendor and venue contracts and relationships

  • Execute both small community events and large tent-pole events

  • Post-event reporting and analysis

Team Leadership
  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management for community relations and event coordinators

  • Clearly delineate responsibilities and inspire career growth from the team

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with creative directors, marketing managers, and Sales teams to integrate community initiatives into broader campaigns.

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Events Management, Experience Marketing, Communications, Community Development or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in community relations, events management, external affairs or brand management - preferably within a broadcast media, publishing, or large multi-platform media environment.

  • 2+ years of direct people-management experience at a supervisory level.

  • Demonstrated success building and managing partnerships with nonprofits, civic organizations, government entities, or corporate sponsors.

  • Proven track record of serving as an external representative in community-facing settings.

  • Portfolio of planned and executed events at both large and small scale

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting community-facing content.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • High emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to represent KSL's values across diverse audiences and settings.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, news-driven environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Physical Demands
  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.

  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion (especially in event management activities)

Compensation
$75,000 - $95,000. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
