Job description

Manager, Events

WHO WE ARE

World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) is a private, nonprofit organization that accelerates growth for Utah companies through our global network, programs, and services. We help Utah businesses pursue opportunities around the world, build international relationships, develop global growth strategies, and execute those strategies to grow their reach.

Our events play a central role in advancing that mission. From diplomatic engagements and educational programs to thought-leadership events and virtual briefings, WTC Utah convenes business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and community partners to strengthen Utah’s global connections.

Depending on the selected candidate’s experience, technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and ability to independently manage complex programs and stakeholder relationships, this position may be classified as either Manager or Coordinator.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

WTC Utah is seeking an events manager to independently manage our year-round portfolio of approximately [60] recurring events. This role is responsible for coordinating speakers, partners, sponsors, vendors, and internal teams while ensuring every event reflects the professionalism and relationship-driven nature of our organization.

This position works cross-functionally across the organization to support event recruitment, communications, and execution.

**This posting reflects the Manager-level scope of the role; candidates who are strong fits but have less experience will be considered for the Coordinator-level version of this position.

REPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the planning and execution of WTC Utah’s recurring event portfolio, including educational programs, diplomatic engagements, and thought leadership events.
  • Coordinate speakers, partners, sponsors, vendors, and key stakeholders to ensure projects stay on schedule and events are executed successfully.
  • Manage event logistics, including registration, venues, audiovisual needs, catering, branded signage, room setup, and attendee experience.
  • Partner with internal teams to support event promotion, attendee recruitment, communications, and execution.
  • Develop project timelines, manage event budgets, maintain event and attendee information in Salesforce.
  • Identify opportunities to improve event processes, systems, and operational efficiency.
  • Represent WTC Utah professionally while building strong relationships with business leaders, government officials, diplomats, board members, and community partners.
  • Support special projects and other organizational initiatives as needed.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Delivering a portfolio of professional, well-executed events throughout the year.
  • Building trusted relationships with speakers, partners, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Keeping multiple events moving forward despite changing priorities and evolving information.
  • Creating a positive and seamless experience for attendees and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–7 years professional experience managing events, projects, or stakeholder-driven initiatives (candidates with less experience may be considered for a Coordinator-level role).
  • Experience independently planning and executing professional events.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience learning and using CRM, event registration, virtual meeting, and project management platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with nonprofit, chamber, association, university, economic development, or corporate event management.
  • Photography experience is a plus.

COMPENSATION

Nonprofit compensation commensurate with experience.
