Build WyCo is a community development corporation dedicated to stabilizing and revitalizing Kansas City, Kansas through quality housing and neighborhood investment. We build and renovate healthy, durable homes and support sustainable homeownership through coaching, education, and financial assistance.
The job:
We are looking for a Resource Development & Marketing Coordinator to support transparent, consistent engagement with supporters, partners, neighbors, and other key stakeholders. The person in this role will be part of the Resource Development and Marketing teams, which are often the public "face" of Build WyCo, and will help foster accountability and trust with our neighbors by providing a comfortable guest experience at events, supporting transparent communications with our donors, and designing customer-centered marketing and outreach pieces. Internal collaboration is also a key part of this role, as the Resource Development and Marketing teams work regularly with other teams to develop grant reports, impact updates, and program outreach. This person will also work directly with our Executive team to provide administrative support.
The Work:
1. Resource Development:
  • Assist with planning and executing events, including event timeline, vendor management, invoicing, etc
  • Maintain consistent and accurate records in Salesforce to support donor engagement, grant management, and event planning.
  • Develop and send templated communications pieces to support donor engagement, including acknowledgement letters, thank you letters, reports, and appeals.
  • Compile reports and packets to support donor engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date grant deadline reminders and communicate with team as-needed to ensure deadlines are met.

2. Marketing and Communications
  • Support program teams with planning and executing customer engagement events
  • Work with Marketing team to improve engagement and reach by analyzing relevant social metrics, insights, and best practices
  • Work with Marketing team to generate original content
  • Draft copy and design for digital and print collateral including flyers, brochures, and graphics to support the development of programs.
  • Draft website, email, and social media marketing content to support the development of programs.
  • Table at community events to support program marketing, volunteer recruitment, and building awareness for Build WyCo's work.
  • Assist with interviewing customers or curating testimonial quotes for use in marketing material.
  • Assist with updating website content (via WordPress)
  • Draft, edit, and publish mass mailings (via Mailchimp)
  • Help produce branded assets like signage, merchandise, brochures, etc.
  • Learn and apply brand voice and guidelines across all content.

3. Executive Support
  • Attend board meetings and assist with corporate record-keeping as needed.
  • Schedule meetings and events on behalf of Executive Director.
  • Support Executive Director with note-taking, correspondence, and administrative tasks.

Skills:
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and follow through with minimal direction
  • Attention to detail, project management skills, and being highly organized a must
  • Willingness to pitch in when/where needed
  • Flexibility in varied job assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of communication principles and practices
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Basic layout design skills, and some knowledge of tools like Canva or Adobe Design Suite
  • Basic office skills, including filing, copying, organization

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Two years of combined experience in one or more of the following fields strongly preferred:
    • Nonprofit, customer service, sales, event management, project management, fund development, community outreach, or marketing/communications.
  • Scheduling experience
  • Knowledge and experience with data entry systems and reporting, Salesforce preferred.
  • Knowledge of the business-related use of social media tools: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn preferred.

Compensation:
Base Salary: Starting at $19 to $21 per hour, DOQ
Benefits: This position is eligible for Build WyCo's medical insurance (including an employer-paid plan for employees and additional options to buy-up in coverage level) dental, vision and retirement benefits, 10 paid holidays, paid Winter break (Dec 24 - Dec 31) in addition to a generous PTO package
