Job description

Position Summary

The Development & Community Engagement Manager is responsible for growing Healing House Kansas City's

relationships with donors, businesses, churches, civic organizations, foundations, volunteers, and community

partners. This position serves as an ambassador for Healing House, helping tell our story, build meaningful

partnerships, and generate the financial and community support necessary to transform lives through addiction

recovery.

Working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, this individual will help execute fundraising initiatives,

manage donor relationships, oversee engagement platforms, and expand Healing House's presence throughout

the Kansas City community. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable meeting with a major donor, giving a

presentation to a civic club, managing a CRM database, or coordinating a marketing campaign.


Essential Responsibilities

Community & Donor Engagement

 Develop, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, churches, businesses, civic

organizations, foundations, and community leaders.

 Identify and qualify new partnership and fundraising opportunities.

 Conduct donor visits, facility tours, and community presentations.

 Represent Healing House at networking events, community meetings, and fundraising activities.

 Build long-term relationships that increase financial support, volunteer engagement, and community

awareness.

Development & Fundraising

 Assist in planning and executing annual fundraising campaigns.

 Support major gift cultivation and stewardship efforts.

 Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation activities.

 Help secure financial and in-kind donations.

 Assist with grant support and sponsorship opportunities when needed.

 Participate in special events including the Healing House Gala, Golf Tournament, Open Houses, and

other fundraising initiatives.

Marketing & Communications Support

 Assist in implementing communication strategies that strengthen donor engagement.

 Coordinate email communications, newsletters, social media content, and promotional materials.

 Help gather participant stories and impact data for marketing and fundraising purposes.

 Ensure consistent messaging and brand representation across community outreach.

Technology & Data Management

 Maintain accurate donor and prospect information within the organization's CRM.

 Manage donor communications through fundraising and marketing platforms.

 Utilize technology to track donor activity, communications, event participation, and engagement

metrics.

 Generate reports and dashboards that support fundraising performance and relationship management.

 Assist with implementation and optimization of new technology platforms as needed.

Team Collaboration

 Work collaboratively with program leadership to remain knowledgeable about Healing House services

and participant outcomes.

 Support volunteers and community partners in meaningful ways.

 Participate in department planning and strategy sessions.

 Perform other duties that advance the mission of Healing House.


Qualifications

Required

 Three to five years of professional experience in development, fundraising, marketing, communications,

sales, business development, or relationship management.

 Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

 Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.

 Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 Demonstrated success building professional relationships.

 Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn and manage CRM, fundraising, marketing, and

communication platforms.

 Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and standard business software.

 Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred

 Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Nonprofit

Management, or a related field.

 Experience working in nonprofit development or fundraising.

 Experience using donor management software such as DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Blackbaud, or similar

CRM systems.

 Experience with email marketing, digital communications, and social media platforms.

 Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery, behavioral health, or community-based human services.

 Personal or professional experience with recovery services is valued but not required.
