Pay is $1,314 per credit hour.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College's Math Science Department seeks a skilled enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach Math at the Cedar Rapids campus. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base in their discipline and teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Primary duties will include teaching assigned classes and communicating with Department staff, students and faculty.
Multiple daytime in-person courses on the Cedar Rapids campus. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday between 8 am to 4 pm.
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline.
  • Teach using the department's established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Utilize Kirkwood's Learning Management System to post a syllabus, course content, and gradebook.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
The position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with math teaching experience at the high school or college level.

  • Master's degree with at least 12 graduate credits in Math.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Previous experience teaching face-to-face at a community college.
  • Prior use of a learning management system.
