HRS is the international leader in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, and the primary information resource on heart rhythm disorders. Position Summary

The Manager, Media & Communications leads media relations and public communications for the Society — a full-cycle role that moves fluidly from message framing to hands-on execution, running campaigns from concept through publication, promotion, analytics, and optimizations. This role is supported by and works collaboratively with the entire MarComm Team.

Responsibilities

  1. Media Relations & Public Communications
  • Lead HRS public communications campaigns end-to-end: frame the message, coordinate supporting Heart Rhythm TV content, and drive distribution across PR Newswire, email, social, and web.
  • Write and distribute AP Style press releases, media advisories, statements, spokesperson talking points, and reactive messaging.
  • Monitor news and flag cardiac rhythm stories, clinical developments, and public health moments HRS should respond to or amplify.
  • Coordinate with HRS's external PR partner on major initiatives and high-stakes communications.
  1. Cross-Channel Campaign & Content Execution
  • Web: Landing page copy, content updates, and basic CMS edits..
  • SEO/Google Ads Grant: Apply search optimization best practices across ad copy, web copy, press releases, and video content.
  • Email: Copywriting and full builds, including approval routing and deployment.
  • Social (Organic and Paid): Content development, scheduling, and paid campaign management across HRS brand profiles.
  • Print: Copywriting and graphic design (as needed) for direct mail, print materials, and signage.
  • Onsite Events: HRStv and UpBeat TV content capture at HRS and non-HRS events, managing recording studios, coordinating talent, and executing live and post-event cross-promotion.
  1. Analytics, Reporting & Optimization
  • Monitor and report on performance across managed programs and channels, translate data into actionable insights. Deliver regular performance reports (campaign-level and channel-level); proactively identify optimization opportunities

Heart Rhythm TV

  • Approximately 50% of this role will be dedicated to serving as the staff lead for Heart Rhythm TV
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Heart Rhythm TV Subcommittee; partner with Subcommittee Chairs and relevant committee staff liaisons to develop monthly agendas and prepare meeting materials.
  • Lead end-to-end production and multi-channel promotion of HRStv video content: interview scheduling, vendor coordination, video capture and editing, YouTube publishing, and promotion.
  • Maintain the HRStv content calendar, tracking both a consistent year-round content cadence and project-specific initiatives.
  • Sponsorship support: schedule, capture, and deliver contracted sponsored content


Heart Rhythm Advocates (HRA)

  • Approximately 25% (approximately 9 hours/week) of this role will be dedicated to serving as the Marcomm Team lead for HRS’ advocacy arm, Heart Rhythm Advocates (HRA)
  • Collaborate with the VP of Advocacy, Heart Rhythm Advocates - draft and publish social media posts, emails, blog posts, newsletters, etc.
  • Support HRA Communications Committee

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field preferred; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in communications or public relations, digital content marketing, and social media management. Nonprofit, association, or healthcare/medical experience preferred, but not required. Multi-channel campaign management required.
  • Computer/System Skills: Microsoft Office; WordPress; video editing software (iMovie, Adobe, Canva); YouTube and Vimeo; HTML/CSS a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Marketing Fluency: Content marketing strategy, organic and paid social, UTM tracking, SEO fundamentals, and email marketing. Google Ads/Google Grants familiarity a plus.
  • Public Relations & Media: Demonstrated experience writing AP Style press releases, media advisories, and public-facing communications. Experience drafting reactive statements and spokesperson talking points. Familiarity with PR Newswire or comparable wire distribution platforms. Ability to monitor news, identify story opportunities, and respond quickly with accurate, on-brand messaging.
  • Social Media: Hands-on experience across YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Social media management platform required; Sprout Social preferred.
  • Email Marketing: Enterprise ESP experience required; Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred.
  • Design: Canva proficiency preferred; ability to produce on-brand assets independently at a professional standard.
  • Analytics: GA4, Google for Nonprofits (Ads, Grant, YouTube Nonprofit Program), YouTube Studio, native social analytics, and Sprout Social.
  • Project Management: Asana or comparable tool; demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines independently.
