Job description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Employee Communications & Experience, Sr. Manager is a passionate champion of Rivian’s mission, Compass Values, and unique culture. In this role, you will design and execute meaningful internal communication strategies that inform, inspire, and support employees across Rivian’s Customer, Finance, and Sustainability organizations.

This is a high-impact, strategic role requiring a blend of executive presence, narrative storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration to drive employee engagement and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Executive Communications: Draft compelling messages, scripts, and talking points for senior leadership, including the Chief Customer Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Sustainability Officer, for town halls, videos, program launches, and operational updates.
  • Strategy & Insights: Leverage data and internal insights to deconstruct complex corporate initiatives into clear, actionable communication strategies that boost productivity and engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Socialize and align communication plans with leadership and key stakeholders across Legal, People (HR), Safety, and Facilities teams.
  • Channel Management: Oversee the strategy, creative development, and maintenance of tailored communication channels and programming specifically designed to support our plant and frontline employees.
  • Content Creation: Plan, write, and edit dynamic content for various internal mediums, including the company intranet, weekly newsletters, and organization-wide emails.
  • Corporate Collaboration: Partner closely with the Corporate Communications team to ensure seamless alignment and consistency between internal and external messaging.
  • Community & Engagement: Support employee engagement initiatives and "Rivian in the Community" efforts.
  • Impact Tracking: Establish metrics to track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of communication campaigns against organizational objectives.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in internal communications or a related discipline. Experience in a fast-paced tech, automotive, or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Executive Presence: 3+ years of experience directly supporting executive communications and/or leading change management initiatives.
  • Master Storyteller: Exceptional writing and editing skills with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to translate complex corporate data into compelling narratives.
  • Agility & Autonomy: A highly organized self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, can manage multiple workstreams independently, and successfully drives projects to completion under tight deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and partner with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Discretion: Proven ability to operate with a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency with Google Workspace (particularly Docs & Slides); experience with web publishing tools (including ServiceNow) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus.
  • Commitment to traveling up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail.
  • Ability to view, read, and interpret documents.
  • Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds to set-up and work company events.
