Position Overview
The Utah 2034 Communications Coordinator will help tell the story of how the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will create lasting impact and opportunity for Utah.
This role will support the development and execution of communications strategies that bring Utah 2034's vision, priorities, programs, and initiatives to life-connecting the work of the Organizing Committee with donors, partners, communities, stakeholders, and external organizations.
Working closely with the Impact, Engagement & Enterprise Operations division and the broader Utah 2034 organization, this position will help identify stories, develop communications strategies, coordinate partners, and bring Utah 2034 initiatives and priorities to life across the state.
This position is ideal for a strong communicator who is organized, collaborative, creative, and excited about helping shape the story of Utah's journey to 2034 and the lasting impact of the Games.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Storytelling
  • Support communications across Utah 2034 priorities, programs, initiatives, and partnerships, with a particular focus on work led by the Impact, Engagement & Enterprise Operations division.
  • Develop messaging, talking points, presentations, briefing materials, written content, and other communications assets.
  • Translate complex initiatives into clear, compelling stories that resonate with Utahns, partners, community leaders, stakeholders, and external audiences.
  • Identify stories, milestones, people, and programs that demonstrate the progress and long-term value of Utah 2034.
  • Help develop and maintain a consistent voice and message across communications related to Utah 2034 programs and initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams to identify communications opportunities and elevate compelling stories across appropriate channels.

Donor & Partner Communications
  • Serve as a day-to-day communications liaison with the donor team and support communications needs across donor-supported initiatives.
  • Coordinate messaging, materials, announcements, and storytelling related to donor and partner-supported programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure communications align with Utah 2034's broader priorities, messaging, and brand.
  • Identify opportunities to showcase the impact donors, sponsors, partners, and community organizations are making across Utah.
  • Support communications with external partners and organizations involved in Utah 2034 initiatives.

Communications Planning & Strategy
  • Work with Utah 2034 communications teams, external communications teams, agencies, partners, and stakeholders to develop communications plans for programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate messaging, timelines, audiences, deliverables, and communications opportunities across multiple teams and partners.
  • Support communications strategies for major Utah 2034 announcements, initiatives, events, milestones, and community activations.
  • Help maintain an integrated communications calendar for relevant Utah 2034 work.
  • Monitor upcoming milestones and identify opportunities to proactively tell the Utah 2034 story.

Coordination & Execution
  • Keep projects moving across internal and external teams, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate meetings, materials, approvals, and follow-up related to communications initiatives.
  • Work closely with Utah 2034 communications, marketing, engagement, donor, partnership, and program teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective execution.
  • Help bring Utah 2034 to communities across the state by supporting communications, storytelling, and execution for statewide engagement events, programs, presentations, and stakeholder activations from now through the 2034 Games.
  • Jump in to support communications needs across the organization as priorities evolve in a fast-moving and growing organization.

What You Bring
  • 2-4 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, community engagement, or a related field.
  • A current resident of Utah.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and relationships simultaneously.
  • A collaborative approach and comfort working across organizations, teams, and external partners.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue requires senior-level review.
  • Creative instincts and an ability to identify and develop compelling stories.
  • Ability to take complex ideas and turn them into clear, accessible communications.
  • Interest in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, Utah, community impact, sport, major events, or civic initiatives.
  • A willingness to jump in, solve problems, and take on new responsibilities in a fast-moving, growing organization.

Salary Range: 75,000 annually
