Job description

The Sr. Specialist, Communications & Events Operations plays a key role in advancing Desert Financial Credit Union's internal communications strategy by supporting the governance, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide communications and employee experience initiatives. This role serves as a steward of publishing standards, editorial consistency, and channel effectiveness across DFCU's communications platform, partnering with writers and stakeholders organization-wide to ensure all internal messaging is clear, accurate, on-brand, and aligned to organizational priorities.

Reporting into the Internal Communications team, this role balances three core areas of accountability: maintaining communications standards and optimizing the employee experience across channels, producing and supporting product, service, and project-based communications including graphics and multimedia content, and providing comprehensive support for major internal events such as the All-Employee Event, including logistics, vendor coordination, budget tracking, and run-of-show execution. The incumbent leverages data, engagement metrics, and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement, and applies AI tools to enhance drafting, editing, reporting, and workflow efficiency.

They demonstrate strong writing and editorial judgment, project coordination skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to deliver communications and events that inform, engage, and inspire DFCU employees.

What you will do here:

Standards and Experience Optimization

Support governance and daytoday administration of our communications platform including supporting the other writers in the org

Maintain publishing standards, best practices, and experience guidelines within our team and with all other writers

Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate timing across channels

Monitor engagement, channel performance, and experience trends using data and industry trends to identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness and employee experience

Communications and Multimedia Support

Write all product and service communications as well as review and support content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment to priorities while working on project teams

Create internal graphics or multimedia to support communication pieces

Use AI tools to support drafting, editing, reporting, and workflow efficiency

Support additional communications and event initiatives as needed

Event Support

Support planning and execution of major internal events, including the AllEmployee Event

Coordinate timelines, tasks, and followup across stakeholders

Track event budgets, invoices, vendors, and logistics

Support event messaging, materials, agendas, and runofshow needs

Assist with event technology, attendee experience details, and postevent feedback

Other Duties As Assigned.

What you will need:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or business-related field; preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and experience required.

4+ years of communications, copywriting, event management, project management, and/or social media experience required.

Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PhotoShop and Canva required.

Skills in organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and business acumen required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment required.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work professionally across a diverse range of employees, leaders, visitors, and vendors; self-directed, adaptable, and able to navigate change with clarity while adapting to shifting priorities required.

Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work with tight deadlines required.

Ability to collaborate and work in a cross-functional environment. Ability to develop and maintain key business relationships required.
