Job description

Leads the development and execution of employee communications and event strategies to enhance employee engagement, strengthen organizational culture, and increase awareness of the Boys Town mission. Oversees employee communications and supports planning and delivery of employee, development/fundraising, youth, and organizational events in partnership with Marketing and senior leadership.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Manages employee communications and events functions and communications and event staff for the organization.
  • Develops, manages, and executes an employee communications and events strategy aligned with Boys Town's mission and values.
  • Works with executives and human resource managers to help them maintain a positive relationship with employees through their group communications and all employee communications.
  • Provides counsel to senior leaders on ways to use innovative and modern communications and experiences to help support business objectives.
  • Leads the development of communication materials in support of initiatives, programs, and policies that reinforce the Boys Town culture and brand.
  • Uses and monitors communications channels to ensure effective reach of internal target audiences by using a range of channels including videos, town hall, or department meetings, email, intranet, and other creative platforms.
  • Responsible for coordinating and executing internal and external employee events, including fundraising, community, and youth events; creating timelines; developing and coordinating promotional communications; and organizing staff and volunteers.
  • Promotes organizational activities and contributes to employee engagement and culture building efforts on the intranet and through interactive activities via employee emails.
  • Delivers positive, high-quality communications work; ensures attention to detail, show empathy, consideration, and understanding of various viewpoints to support Boys Town's diverse, growing business.
  • Develops measurement approaches to track effectiveness of communications in maximizing focus and engagement on the organization's strategy, with a focus on the integration of new technology and communication channels, adjusting programs where necessary.
  • Leads and continuously develops a team of talented communications and events professionals.
  • Researches, writes, and distributes communications in an objective and timely manner.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Media staff to ensure internal communications match the public image Boys Town has created.
  • Collaborates with and advises Human Resources how to effectively communicate high priority and critical information to employees.
  • Develops and manages the Employee Communications & Events budget annually.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications principles, ethics, and practices.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, event planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources in a non-profit organization.
  • Ability to cultivate community and cross-department relationships to achieve desired results.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to offer creative approaches according to shifting demographics, geographies, and needs.
  • Computer skills in Office365 and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization and with external contacts in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Ability to successfully lead a team of associates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive marketing or communications and event planning experience required.
  • Available to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Leadership experience preferred.
