Job description

Overview
The successful candidate will be a collaborative member of the company's Communications and Human Resources teams, responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic internal communications that support HR initiatives, reinforce company culture, and ensure employees have clear, consistent and accurate information. This role will help shape communication standards for HR, support executive messaging, and deliver timely, effective content across multiple platforms and locations. The position will report through the Corporate Communications (D605) team with a dotted line to the Human Resources organization, serving as a dedicated resource to the HR function within the governance of the Corporate Communications organization. They will support and participate in the HR senior leadership team meetings. The position will be based at Quonset Point, with initial onboarding based in Groton.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Establish HR communication governance standards, including protocols, tone/voice guidelines, approval workflows and template documentation.
  • Ensure HR messaging meets compliance, legal and data-privacy requirements across all employee-facing channels.
  • Maintain consistent HR messaging across email, Homeport, gdeb.com, EB Landing, SharePoint and manager toolkits, and regularly assess effectiveness.
  • Leverage new communication strategies to improve how HR communicates with the workforce.
  • Develop and support executive HR communications such as org announcements, culture updates, town hall materials and crisis messaging.
  • Serve as QP-based HR communications support, tailoring enterprise messages and creating briefs, talking points, FAQs and local updates.
  • Align QP and Groton messaging, with attention to the special needs of the QP workforce.
  • Support local crisis communications and coordinate with Community Affairs for QP
  • Lead communications for policy changes, compliance updates and mandatory training.
  • Manage onboarding communications including welcome messages, orientation content, first-90-days guidance and cultural introductions.
  • Create communications for HR programs such as performance management, training, leadership development and feedback initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement communications, including surveys, Gallup messaging, culture programs and recognition efforts.
  • Maintain HR Operations content including payroll updates, scheduling changes, knowledge-base articles and self-service guidance.
  • Support talent acquisition and employer brand messaging including job postings, recruitment communications and candidate updates.
  • Lead benefits and total-rewards communications such as open enrollment, benefits education, compensation and wellness updates.
  • Support Diversity & Inclusion messaging including ERG communications.
  • Assist with crisis and sensitive-event communications, including weather, safety and closure updates.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, human resources or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in communications, HR, public relations or marketing. Academic or on-the-job experience acceptable.
  • Experience writing and managing content for employee-facing channels including intranets, email platforms, SharePoint or similar tools.
  • Experience creating, editing and posting internal communications and digital content.
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated skills in the following competencies: initiative, integrity and trust, customer focus, communication, listening, persuasion, detail orientation, business acumen, planning, and stakeholder partnership.
  • Experience working with SharePoint, WordPress and graphics programs

Skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex HR information into clear, accessible, employee-friendly messaging.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working cross-functionally with HR leaders, managers and Communications partners.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and exercise good judgment when handling sensitive or confidential HR matters.
