Postdoctoral Scholar
Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences
The Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN), housed within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a position as Postdoctoral Scholar. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewing for an additional year. [Definition of postdoctoral scholar.]
The mission of the PRCHN is to bridge community partners and university researchers to focus their collective expertise to develop, test, and implement sustainable strategies to improve health in underserved communities. The Postdoctoral Scholar will support the CONNECT-Pantries project, which is a NIH-funded R01 study that will test the reach, effectiveness, and impact of providing connections to smoking cessation treatment in community food pantries. The project is led by Drs. Jin Kim-Mozeleski, Sarah Koopman Gonzalez, and Erika Trapl.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Lead project management and coordination, overseeing multi-site implementation and data collection progress for both quantitative and qualitative data
• Develop, implement, and refine operational systems for tracking study progress, data quality, partnership communication, and study documentation
• Prepare interim reports aligned with project milestones and aims
• Co-lead or lead manuscript preparation, prepare scientific presentations, and contribute to all aspects of grant writing
• Maintain close communication with project PIs and team members
• Supervise and mentor research team members (staff, research assistants, interns/trainees)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in public health, social or behavioral science, psychology, health communication, community health, or a related field. Duties are highly focused on project coordination, writing (e.g., papers, grant applications) and tracking and monitoring study progress and outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in research project management
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills are necessary
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across academic and community settings
• Ability to problem solve and proactively anticipate and address issues
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
Preferred qualifications include
• Background or strong interest in community engagement, mixed methods research, intervention research, or implementation science.
• Previous supervisory or mentorship experience
The postdoctoral scholar will receive mentorship from the PIs and will participate in professional development experiences such as:
• Manuscript and grant writing
• Individualized career development planning
• Opportunities to present in local and national conferences
• Opportunities for scientific leadership and project management on teams

In compliance with the City of Cleveland's Pay Transparency Ordinance (effective October 27, 2025), the annual starting base salary range for this position is $55,000 - $62,652. CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Postdocs receive individual and family healthcare benefits, life insurance, and employee assistance.
