The Communications & Development Assistant will support ECR's communications and development initiatives through visual storytelling, content creation, social media support, and data-driven communications. This part-time role (10-15 hours per week) focuses on capturing and organizing high-quality visual assets that demonstrate donor impact, support fundraising and engagement efforts, and increase awareness of ECR programs across digital platforms.


The Assistant will assist in producing content for print and digital channels, support social media planning and analytics, and contribute to internal communications through effective asset management and documentation. This position also offers hands-on experience supporting the implementation of a new AI-driven social media and fundraising platform, helping organize foundational data, messaging, and donor information to support future campaign optimization.


This role will provide practical experience in nonprofit communications, philanthropy storytelling, audience engagement strategy, and emerging communications technology.


This position is headquartered at Easterseals Chicago Location at 1939 W 13th Street, Chicago, IL 60608. 


MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain a standardized SharePoint archive for all visual assets, including: 
  1. Organizing, tagging, and cataloging photos and videos from the past two years 
  2. Implementing consistent naming conventions 
  3. Ensuring all new content is properly archived and easily accessible for future use 
  • Assist in developing our editorial calendar, focusing on evergreen social media and blog content. 
  • Support a consistent social media posting schedule across platforms. 
  • Assist with onboarding and setup of a new AI-powered social media and fundraising platform by: 
  • Uploading and organizing donor lists, campaign information, and audience data 
  • Assisting with populating platform content libraries and messaging frameworks 
  • Supporting efforts to align the platform with ECR's brand voice, fundraising priorities, and communication channels 
  • Assist in leveraging AI tools to produce training content that supports ECR's operational goals.
  • Assist with configuring and using Hootsuite or similar platforms to streamline scheduling and analytics. 
  • Track performance metrics and help build quarterly reporting dashboards using predefined communications metrics. 
  • Analyze engagement and performance data to inform future content and communications decisions. 
  • Collaborate with communications, development, and program staff to support organizational storytelling and engagement goals

Requirements

Education/Certification:

  • Minimum of high-school diploma or equivalent required. 

Skills & Abilites:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a professional team environment 
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and systems quickly
