American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kearney, Nebraska.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level II Trauma center in Nebraska, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience, active NE or Compact RN license, and proficiency with Epic EMR.

Details
  • Acute care hospital ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16 patients
  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2โ€“3 for adult patients
  • RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand used with tele tech oversight
  • Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
  • Charting system: Epic EMR
  • 12-hour day shifts, 0630โ€“1830
  • Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
  • Floating may be required to PCU or occasionally Med/Surg, typically at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio
  • Nurse aides available based on census; Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week (Mโ€“F), 0800โ€“1630
  • Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period are required
  • If placed on call and called back in, arrival on-site within 30 minutes is required
Requirements
  • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications will not be accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Ability to titrate drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips
  • Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
Additional Information
  • Provide intensive care nursing to a diverse adult patient population including trauma and cardiac cases
  • Unit orientation consists of 1 department-specific shift
  • A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on Wednesdays during orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required to pass
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
  • Block scheduling is not approved unless weekends-only; requests may be submitted but are not guaranteed
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
  • Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit facilities will be considered
