Job Description
The Director of Sourcing is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing Genie's global sourcing strategy across direct and indirect materials, domestic and international supply bases, and production and non-production spend. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain, with a dotted-line relationship to the President of Genie, reflecting its critical impact on cost structure, continuity of supply, and long-term enterprise value.
The Director of Sourcing leads a team of Commodity Managers, Buyers, and International Supplier Quality Representatives, and is accountable for commercial excellence, year-over-year productivity (deflation), supplier performance, risk mitigation, and long-term supplier partnerships. This leader will establish disciplined sourcing processes, negotiate and structure Long-Term Agreements (LTAs), and ensure sourcing decisions support Genie's growth, margin, and operational reliability objectives.
This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring deep commercial acumen, strong executive presence, and the ability to build scalable, predictable sourcing operations.
Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute a global sourcing strategy for direct and indirect materials aligned with Genie's business, financial, and operational goals.
  • Lead and develop a high performing team of Commodity Managers, Buyers, and Supplier Quality Representatives, setting clear expectations, accountability, and career development paths.
  • Establish Genie's sourcing organization as a center of excellence, driving standardization, best practices, and disciplined execution across regions.

Commercial Excellence & Cost Productivity
  • Own all commercial negotiations including pricing, lead times, MOQs, payment terms, tooling, and contractual frameworks.
  • Structure, negotiate, and govern Long Term Agreements (LTAs) that balance cost competitiveness, capacity assurance, flexibility, and risk.
  • Deliver year over year productivity (deflation) through cost roadmaps, should cost modeling, VAVE initiatives, and supply base optimization.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to influence design to cost and total landed cost decisions early in the product lifecycle.

Supplier Performance, Risk & Continuity
  • Ensure supplier fulfillment performance, capacity planning, and delivery reliability meet Genie's operational requirements.
  • Lead supplier risk management, including dual sourcing strategies, geographic risk mitigation, financial health assessments, and supplier Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Oversee supplier quality performance in collaboration with International Supplier Quality teams to ensure compliance with Genie standards and customer expectations.

Operational Discipline & Systems
  • Enforce Oracle discipline as the system of record for pricing, supplier commitments, lead times, and sourcing data.
  • Ensure sourcing processes integrate seamlessly with SIOP, planning, manufacturing, and procurement execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, governance, and cross functional ways of working.

Executive & Cross Functional Partnership
  • Serve as a key thought partner to the VP of Supply Chain and President of Genie on cost structure, supply risk, and strategic supplier decisions.
  • Provide clear, data based insights and escalation on sourcing risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs.
  • Represent Genie with key strategic suppliers as an executive sponsor.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience, including global supplier management.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating and managing complex LTAs in both domestic and international environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering sustained year over year cost productivity (deflation).
  • Strong experience with direct materials, indirect spend, and multi commodity environments.
  • Deep understanding of supplier risk management, fulfillment, and business continuity planning.
  • Experience leading and developing multi level global teams (commodity managers, buyers, supplier quality).
  • High level of financial and commercial acumen; ability to translate sourcing decisions into P&L impact.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the confidence to influence at the senior leadership level.
  • Hands on experience operating within ERP driven environments (Oracle strongly preferred).
