Job description

The Global Commodities business is part of the Markets Trading organization within the Commercial & Investment Bank. This business unit offers risk management solutions, develops investor products, and facilitates market activities in metals, energy, and agricultural commodities on a global scale. It is dedicated to serving both corporate clients, who are producers and consumers of commodities, and investor clients, by crafting client-promoten solutions paired with exceptional client service and execution. In collaboration with senior management, the Business Management team plays a crucial role in steering business strategy and priorities, managing business risks, addressing regulatory and control initiatives, optimizing business performance, and coordinating other business development efforts. Positioned on the trading floor, the team works closely with traders, marketers, business leaders, and all support and risk functions, including credit, market risk, operations, technology, legal, compliance, and finance.

As the Executive Director in the Commodities Business Management team, you will lead new business initiatives, manage and support business development, and coordinate regulatory and control-related projects. You will develop business strategies, optimize performance, and work closely with business heads and support functions to promote key initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead new business initiatives and actively manage and support business development and structured deal pipeline, including coordinating required due diligence and related return analysis;
  • Coordinate implementation of regulatory and control-related projects;
  • Develop the annual budget, including revenue, expense, and capital planning; 
  • Manage US-based Commodities Business Management team; and
  • Optimize bottom-line business performance and improve various business processes by driving key initiatives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills  

  • Self-starter, strong communicator, ability to lead meetings 
  • Strong desire to learn, and high leve of energy & enthusiasm
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and challenging deadlines; good project management skills 
  • Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  • Ability to effectively partner with and influence a broad range of groups 
  • Technical analysis skills and data manipulation - MS Office Products 
  • Finance technical skills - P&L, RWA, Balance Sheet and Return metrics

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior experience in a business management role preferred
  • Knowledge of commodities products preferred
