About the Role
We are currently seeking a Trading Analyst to be based in our Houston office, supporting the Atlantic Marketing & Trading (M&T) team.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality market and price analysis to inform commercial decision-making across crude oil, natural gas, and refined products, demonstrating strong commercial and market acumen.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, enhancement, and application of analytical tools and frameworks to assess supply and demand dynamics, market pricing, physical flows, and crude/feedstock economics.
  • Develop and maintain price mandates for physical and internal pricing applications, and support the development of compliant and commercially robust transfer prices as required, in alignment with approved governance frameworks.
  • Proactively monitor, synthesize, and interpret market news, data, and intelligence, translating information into clear insights and implications for trading, marketing, and portfolio outcomes.
  • Deliver timely, well-reasoned analysis on ad hoc market events, disruptions, and emerging trends, applying judgment to inform risk assessment and opportunity identification.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations, briefings, and written materials for internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, supporting informed and timely decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with Global Oil, Shipping, and Portfolio Analytics teams to enable cross-commodity and cross-regional analysis, including active participation in global forums and early-morning or evening calls with Singapore and Perth (roughly twice weekly).
  • Support Woodside's internal governance and reporting requirements, including performance and segment reporting, deal verification, and data quality assurance, with a strong focus on accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Woodside's commercial systems, data, and processes, and actively identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement and greater analytical efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Atlantic M&T's commercial strategy by providing rigorous market insights, constructive challenge, and analytical leadership.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders through clear communication, collaboration, and professional credibility.
  • Partner with producing assets and operations teams to support production optimization, anticipate and mitigate disruptions, and contribute to flow assurance outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety, Sustainability, and Environment (HSSE) by working in line with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with Woodside's Values, Code of Conduct, and expected standards of professional behavior.

  • Solid expertise in crude oil and refined product markets.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large, complex data sets.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment, while collaborating effectively across diverse teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, translating analysis into clear, actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with experience using ETRM system.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics) or equivalent professional experience.
