CloudHQ has state-of-the-art data center sites located in two Northern Virginia locations, as well as London, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, and Sao Paulo, and we anticipate exponential growth over the next several years both in the US and abroad.


What The Role Entails


The Electrical Commissioning Manager will work closely with the construction team to ensure that data center projects meet CloudHQ’s Operation requirements with excellence. Primary duties involve overseeing the design, installation and testing of all components, materials, equipment, and systems. The Electrical Commissioning Manager will oversee commissioning of mission-critical systems in our data centers to include generators, back-up power supplies, and digital electrical distribution equipment. This individual will be responsible for conducting reviews of design packages, monitoring, and analyzing equipment tests. The Electrical Commissioning Manager is critical to the company’s continued success by ensuring that testing has been executed and the data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency.


Please Note: this is not a remote role and travel is required. The candidate will need to be in the Washington, DC metro area to perform this role.

Requirements:

What You Will Get to Do


• Monitor and maintain data center project tasks, tracking budget, schedule, and scope of work

• Liaise between the client and internal team to document the basis of design, serving as the main point of contact with the client during commissioning activities and project completion

• Responsible for reviewing all written work submitted to the client

• Assist In the development, review, and implementation of the commissioning plan encompassing construction as required for building phasing

• Conduct a Pre-Construction commissioning process meeting

• Attend selected construction progress and Pre-installation job-site meetings to obtain information on construction progress

• Review construction progress meeting minutes for revisions/substitutions related to the Owner's design intent. Assist in resolving any discrepancies

• Assist and review the commissioning schedule, the commissioning process activities and integrate them into the master project schedule as prepared and maintained by the Owner's Representative

• Complete a thorough review of the design documents at the end of the Construction Documents Phase. Work with the internal CloudHQ team driving design changes as required

• Assist in the Development of full commissioning specifications for all commissioned equipment

• Inspects installation in the field and witness functional testing on site; performs site visits, as necessary, to observe component and document component system installations

• Coordinate with primary IT liaison for control systems issues

• Observe and oversee the execution of commissioning tests to demonstrate that equipment is correctly installed, functions properly and safely without interruption

• Assist in the development and execution of the commissioning test procedures to verify the performance and functionality of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements

• Assist in the development and implementation engineering standards/best practices

• Perform readiness reviews of assigned projects to inform overall building acceptance

• Validate and attend training of the operation team personnel

• Review final third-party Commissioning Process Report

• Assist with other projects as needed.

• Travel to sites, client meetings, training courses or conferences as requested and required

• Coordinate and assist in the scheduling of the Factory Acceptance/Factory Witness tests with participation and management of the development staff who attends


What You Bring to The Role


• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in data center or critical facilities projects

• General understanding of data center systems and electrical building systems

• Understanding of appropriate design and local codes

• Familiarity with industry standards and codes, such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ASHRAE

• Strong business Acumen

• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to exercise critical judgement

• Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills

• Expertise in core Microsoft office suite applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Proficiency in commissioning software and tools is a plus

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Ability to multi-task while managing changing priorities for multiple projects

• Assertive personality style needed to ensure that processes are completed and moving on to the next stage of completion

• Strong work ethic and self-motivation

• Ability to maintain excellent relationships with contractors, clients, and other departments within the company
