What is a commission weaver?

Commission Weavers are skilled artisans who create woven fabrics or textiles, often working on commission for clients or companies. Their work may involve using traditional hand-weaving techniques or operating specialized looms to produce custom fabrics, tapestries, or decorative pieces. Commission Weavers typically collaborate with clients to understand specific design requirements, select appropriate materials, and deliver unique, handcrafted textile products. This role requires a strong understanding of weaving patterns, color theory, and material properties, as well as keen attention to detail. The finished pieces can be used in fashion, interior design, or as standalone art.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a commission weaver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Weaver, you need strong technical weaving skills, knowledge of textile materials, and experience with various weaving techniques, often supported by formal training or an apprenticeship. Familiarity with hand looms, industrial weaving machines, and relevant textile design software is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective client communication are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, custom textile pieces that meet client specifications and maintain artistic and technical standards.

What are some common challenges commission weavers face when managing multiple client projects simultaneously?

Commission Weavers often juggle several client projects at once, which can make time management and communication especially important. One common challenge is balancing the unique requirements and deadlines of each commission without compromising quality or client satisfaction. Staying organized, clearly documenting project details, and maintaining regular updates with clients are essential strategies for success. Additionally, collaborating with team members, such as designers or project coordinators, can help distribute the workload and ensure timely delivery.

At AHEAD, we prioritize creating a culture of belonging, where all perspectives and voices are represented, valued, respected, and heard. We create spaces to empower everyone to speak up, make change, and drive the culture at AHEAD.
We are an equal opportunity employer, and do not discriminate based on an individual's race, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, marital status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law, whether actual or perceived.
We embrace all candidates that will contribute to the diversification and enrichment of ideas and perspectives at AHEAD.
AHEAD is seeking a Commission Analyst to join the Insights team under Jason Jewell. This role will serve as a key business partner across Regional EVPs, Managing Directors, the Commission team, and the Enterprise Data Analytics team. The Commission Analyst will act as the connective tissue between stakeholders, helping ensure commission data is accurate, issues are resolved quickly, and reporting is translated into clear business insights and actions.
Position Summary
This person will need a strong understanding of sales commissions, excellent judgment in managing sensitive issues, and the ability to work across multiple systems and teams. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. They are comfortable troubleshooting commission-related questions, navigating data across Salesforce, Power BI, and Xactly, and identifying opportunities to automate workflows through AI-enabled tools.
Commission Support and Issue Resolution
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination for commission-related questions, disputes, and troubleshooting

  • Investigate commission issues by reviewing source data, plan logic, transaction history, and reporting outputs

  • Partner with Regional EVPs, MDs, and the Commission team to resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner

  • Help identify root causes of recurring commission issues and recommend process improvements to reduce future exceptions

  • Support accurate interpretation of commission plans, crediting rules, and payout logic

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Act as the connective link between business leaders, the Commission team, and Enterprise Data Analytics

  • Translate stakeholder questions into clear analytical requirements and actionable next steps

  • Facilitate alignment across teams when issues involve multiple systems, owners, or points of view

  • Use strong communication and conflict resolution skills to de-escalate sensitive situations and drive productive outcomes

  • Build credibility with field leadership by providing responsive, thoughtful, and data-backed support

Data, Reporting, and Systems
  • Leverage Salesforce, Power BI, and Xactly (or similar commission tool) to analyze commission-related data and explain outcomes to stakeholders

  • Validate commission-related reporting and help ensure consistency between operational systems and downstream reporting

  • Monitor trends, anomalies, and exceptions that may impact payouts, reporting accuracy, or stakeholder confidence

  • Partner with Enterprise Data Analytics to improve visibility into commissions, credits, and related performance metrics

  • Document business rules, recurring issues, and resolution patterns to improve organizational knowledge

Automation and Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline commission workflows, issue tracking, and stakeholder communication

  • Leverage AI tools to support automation, investigation, summarization, and process efficiency

  • Help design repeatable processes that reduce manual effort and improve response times

  • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of commission-related analytics, governance, and operating rhythms

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in commissions, sales operations, revenue operations, finance analytics, or a related analytical role

  • Strong understanding of sales commissions, crediting concepts, and issue resolution workflows

  • Experience working with Salesforce, Power BI, and Xactly or similar reporting, and analytic tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex data or compensation-related issues across multiple stakeholders

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, mediate, and resolve conflict professionally

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment

  • Proficiency in Excel and general data analysis techniques

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a high-growth, matrixed, or services-led organization

  • Familiarity with commission plan administration, payout processes, or sales compensation operations

  • Experience partnering with executive sales leadership and cross-functional analytics teams

  • Exposure to AI tools or automation platforms used to improve business workflows

  • Experience documenting business processes, requirements, or data definitions

Success Profile
The successful candidate will be:
  • A trusted partner to field leadership, commissions, and analytics teams

  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and resolving issues that require both technical analysis and stakeholder diplomacy

  • Naturally collaborative, responsive, and solution-oriented

  • Curious about process improvement and motivated to use automation and AI to make work more efficient

  • Able to move fluidly between detailed data validation and executive-level communication

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to Jason Jewell on the Insights team

  • Works closely with Regional EVPs, Managing Directors, the Commission team, and Enterprise Data Analytics

Why this Role Matters
This role helps ensure confidence in commission outcomes by connecting people, data, and systems. It strengthens trust with sales leadership, improves responsiveness to issues, and creates a stronger bridge between commission operations and enterprise analytics. The Commission Analyst will play a meaningful role in improving accuracy, transparency, and automation across the commissions ecosystem.
