Residential Sales Manager

Residential Sales Manager

Sandbox Solar

Fort Collins, CO • On-site

Job description

Most residential sales management roles in solar and home energy services are built around one thing: volume. More doors. More reps. More contracts. Managers who push hard for numbers but don't really develop people. Teams that burn hot for a while and then fall apart.

That's not how Sandbox+ operates.

We're looking for a Residential Sales Manager to lead, coach, develop, and strengthen an already growing residential sales team. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for improving consistency, accountability, communication, pipeline performance, and long-term team development while helping build a stronger and more scalable residential sales organization overall.

Yes, sales performance matters here. A lot. But customer experience matters too. Reputation matters. Operational quality matters. Long-term team development matters. We're not looking for a stereotypical "push harder" sales manager. We're looking for someone who can step into leadership quickly, earn respect from the team, mentor effectively, communicate clearly, create accountability, and genuinely help salespeople improve over time.

And this role goes beyond solar.

This leader will oversee all residential sales activity across Sandbox+, including solar, HVAC, batteries, and integrated home energy solutions. We do not operate with siloed "solar-only" and "HVAC-only" sales organizations. We're actively building a more integrated residential sales approach, including representatives capable of selling across multiple residential energy categories instead of operating in isolated departments.

This role is about building people just as much as building performance.

And honestly, this is a pretty substantial opportunity.

Sandbox+ has been one of the fastest-growing companies in Northern Colorado for several years running, with awards and recognition from Colorado Companies to Watch, NoCO Style, BizWest, Denver Business Journal, Solar Power World, Nextdoor, and the International Electrical Contractors Association. The people who thrive here tend to be builders - people who like helping shape systems, teams, culture, and long-term growth instead of simply maintaining the status quo.

Check out this video on what it's like to work for Sandbox +

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead the performance, development, and accountability of the residential sales team
  • Create stronger consistency, communication, and follow-through across the department
  • Improve sales performance through coaching, mentorship, and leadership
  • Strengthen pipeline visibility, forecasting, and overall sales process health
  • Help build a more integrated residential sales organization across solar, HVAC, and home energy solutions
  • Work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Leadership to strengthen customer experience and organizational alignment

We Require

  • High school diploma, college degree preferred
  • 5+ years of residential solar, HVAC, or related sales experience
  • 3+ years of leadership, coaching, or sales management experience
  • A valid driver's license with clean record

Bonus points if you have experience in helping scale or rebuild residential sales teams, and understand both residential solar and HVAC sales environments.

This might not be the right opportunity for those who:

  • Lead primarily through pressure, ego, or short-term volume instead of development, accountability, and long-term team growth
  • Struggle to create consistency, follow-through, and clear communication across a team
  • Avoid difficult coaching conversations, performance accountability, or leadership ownership
  • Tend to operate in silos instead of collaborating closely with Operations, Marketing, and other departments
  • Prefer transactional sales environments over relationship-driven customer experiences and long-term reputation building
  • Wait to be directed instead of proactively solving problems, improving systems, and driving progress forward

Job will be based in Northern Colorado with a hybrid office/field structure.
Compensation starts at $85,000 annually plus a generous commission structure.
As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a background check.
