The Team
Morningstar DBRS is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) that has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the financial market. This group aims to increase market transparency and provides the highest quality ratings through securities research, monitoring services, data, and technology solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Credit Technology group as a Senior Software Engineer in Chicago.

The Role
  • We are seeking a Senior JavaScript Software Engineer with full-stack experience.
  • The position includes the development of new systems and maintenance and improvement of existing applications.
  • Candidates should have solid software engineering experience in building commercial-grade Web-based applications.
  • You will work with other engineers to develop APIs and modernize the platform to build leading product experiences.
  • A successful candidate will be able to play an active role in managing the prioritization of work in order to meet project goals.
  • This position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
  • Develop backend API's using node.js framework.
  • Develop single page app and responsive UI using client-side frameworks such as Angular.js or vue.js.
  • Create cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms.
  • Use an Agile approach to iteratively maintain and develop new functionality.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies.
  • Promote usability best practices.

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or other related fields.
  • 5-7 years of development experience with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3.
  • 3-5 years of experience with SPA client-side frameworks such as Angular.js or Vue.js.
  • 3-5 years experience with server-side technologies such as Node.JS, or Java.
  • Proven knowledge of enterprise software concerns such as security, scalability, transaction management, and concurrency.
  • Familiarity with design patterns like MVC and MVVM required.
  • Experience working in Scrum-based methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience working with SASS, and build process management tools like Grunt or Gulp.
  • Highly motivated individual with the potential and desire to learn new technologies and take on an increasing level of responsibility within the technology team.
  • The ability to work independently communicates effectively and produces superior results.
  • Experience within the financial services industry is desirable.
