Software Engineer II

Location: OFallon, MO

Program Overview: Sustainability and Innovations Program aims to develop Mastercard sustainability solutions and innovative products for Consumer solutions. S&I program team is looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented individuals to help build high quality innovative solutions for a new product enabling Mastercard Multi-rail strategy.

Role: Software Engineer at MasterCard is a high performing engineer within the organization and works on software design implementations. She or he participates in the Software Development Life Cycle through Coaching, R&D, Proof of Concepts, Prototyping etc. Additionally, She or he influences the development practices so that they are in compliance with best practices, policies and procedures. Creates solutions with high level of innovation, cost effectiveness, high quality and faster time to market. Participates in day to day system development and maintenance activities of the team to meet service level agreements (SLAs). Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify and scope the opportunities, outline potential value and ROI, identify risks, benefits and constraints.

All About You:

  • Hands-on engineer who writes high quality, secure code for a small to mid-sized component or feature that is modular, functional and testable.
  • Works in an agile operating model, collaborating with other engineers, tech leads and other functions.
  • Works with new frameworks and technologies, assists with prototyping and proof-of-concepts, understands code reviews, and helps ensure a high level of code quality.
  • Contribute to all parts of the software’s development including design, development, documentation, and testing.
  • Troubleshoots complex problems, determines root cause and able to resolve with minimum support.
  • Provides support on activities such development environment management, establish required connectivity.
  • High-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated to drive results.
  • Works with peers in global teams to improve overall platform performance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong relationship, collaborative and organization skills.

Key Technology Focus Areas:

  • Java, REST API, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Jenkins, Spring, Oracle (or any other database), GIT, Microservices
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience in Java, JavaScript, Gherkin, Spring Frameworks, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Microservices
  • Hands on experience of with security, Checkmarx, Sonar etc tools
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks and tools and support multiple concurrent activities
  • Understanding of Test Driven Development
  • Good to have experience on using performance and monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
