Job description

Radiologic Technologist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shift: 07:00-19:00

The Radiologic Technologist administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients while operating X-ray equipment and providing patient services using various imaging modalities. This role requires a strong adherence to prescribed techniques during X-ray administration and involves preparing patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications for imaging procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer general and specific X-rays while determining the proper voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Adjust lead shields and arrange immobilization and support devices for optimal patient positioning.
  • Prepare barium and other chemical mixtures for X-ray procedures.
  • Observe patients during procedures, documenting any unusual occurrences.
  • Develop X-ray films in accordance with photographic techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and disinfected X-ray room and equipment.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and assist them throughout the process.
  • Manage stock supplies and perform general office duties, including report writing.
  • Inspect emergency trays and maintain radiographic technique charts.
  • Provide both formal and informal education based on the identified needs of staff and peers.
  • Transport patients as necessary to the imaging department.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • RD ARRT certification.
  • Illinois Radiology Technologist license.
  • Familiarity with GE X-ray equipment and OEC (GE) C-arms.
