Power Plant Manager โ€“ Star Peak
Job description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Power Plant Manager in Geothermal Renewable Energy to lead and oversee site facility, personnel, and the overall operations of the site. The ideal candidate will possess a
strong background with expertise in geothermal renewable energy systems and a passion for driving innovative solutions. This role ensures safety protocols, environmental compliance, and power generation are operating efficiently and effectively to meet OMEโ€™s strategic goals.
Essential Functions:
  • The Power Plant Manager directs the daily activities of the operations by achieving high productivity, safe, reliable, efficient, quality work, and cost-effective power generation
  • Develops project plans, provides direction, and coordinates activities associated with plant operations and maintenance
  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements improved work practices and processes
  • Monitors/evaluates plant equipment and systems to ensure reliable plant operations
  • Trains employees in operations and maintenance methods, safety practices amp; procedures, and administers training programs
  • Administers and ensures compliance by employees with company policy, safety rules, and government regulations
  • Performs supervisory activities for employees, including but not limited to the instruction of employee safety, participation in the hiring process, development of employees, and operator performance management
  • Assists in the administration of the O amp;M budget and reporting of work performed within the department
  • Respond and coordinate during emergency and crisis management activities if necessary
  • Completes daily, weekly, monthly reporting on time as required to executive management
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum of 7 seven years of experience in power plant operations and preferred 3 years in geothermal renewable energy management
  • Advanced leadership skills to direct operations and maintenance of power generation facilities
  • Extensive experience in the operations of steam turbine systems and binary heat transfer units
  • Experience in process engineering (steam/refrigerant/hydrocarbons) and ability to make operational decisions based on variable process conditions
  • Experience in managing electrical (HV/LV) operators and technicians and a working knowledge of electrical distribution systems (transformers, switchgear, etc.)
  • Understanding of accounting, contract administration, human resources, procurement, and other plant administration functions
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience in geothermal wellfield production and injection is preferred.
  • Geothermal experience is highly preferred
Education and Experience:
  • Experience in a power generation management roles
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information consistently
  • Must be able to travel as required
  • Must be able to traverse all areas of construction sites
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs pounds
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (i.e. Hot, cold, etc.)
  • Use repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands and/or finger
  • Must be able to inspect construction sites, systems, and projects
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle with a valid driverโ€™s license
