Job description

PPS is seeking a talented Powder Coat Technician to join our team in Chandler, AZ! The Powder Coat Technician will be responsible for proper paint application and powder coat process per product specifications. Maintains pre-treatment equipment, spray booths, ovens, and manual powder gun applicators. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying work instructions, OMS, blueprint specifications, and parts lists. Monitors machine gauges and equipment to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains pre-treatment equipment, spray booths, ovens, and manual powder gun applicators.
  • Observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Weighs or measures chemicals, coatings, or paints before adding them to machines.
  • Inspects parts for quality and informs supervisor of any problems.
  • Responsible for proper paint application per product specifications.
  • Responsible for the care and safe handling of the manual application equipment.
  • Assist when problems occur with fixed equipment and automatic gun adjustments for the various hanging arrangements.
  • Attendance is an essential job function.
  • Works with 5s & visual controls.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Operates hand and power tools to complete assemblies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to conduct on-the-job and skills training.
  • Good manual dexterity; ability to work with hand tools.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of operating hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail; quality-focused and a quick learner.
  • 1+ years of experience in powder coating and surface preparation of components prior to powder coating with leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of paint/coating system controls, delivery systems, and quality control monitoring systems associated with painting/coating processes.
