We specialize in custom formulations and are recognized for our responsiveness, technical expertise, innovative solutions, and commitment to product quality.We are seeking a motivated and experienced Powder Coatings Chemist to join our technical team. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior chemists, production personnel, and customers to develop innovative powder coating solutions and support commercialization efforts.Position SummaryThe Powder Coatings Chemist will be responsible for formulation development, product testing, raw material evaluation, and technical support activities. The ideal candidate has experience with powder coating technology, strong laboratory skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, optimize, and modify powder coating formulations, including epoxy, polyester, and hybrid systems.Support product scale-up activities from laboratory development through commercial production.Conduct performance testing including cure analysis, gloss, color evaluation, mechanical properties, and chemical resistance.Evaluate, qualify, and recommend raw materials, including resins, pigments, and additives.Troubleshoot formulation, manufacturing, processing, and application issues.Maintain accurate formulation records, test reports, and technical documentation.Collaborate with production, quality, and technical service teams to support customer requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.Assist with product development projects and technical investigations as needed.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.Minimum of 2 years of powder coating formulation experience.Total coatings industry experience of 2 to 7 years preferred.Strong laboratory, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with powder coating extrusion processes and powder manufacturing.Knowledge of electrostatic powder application techniques.Familiarity with powder coating raw materials, including pigments, resins, curing agents, and additives.Experience supporting production scale-up and process optimization activities.What We're Looking ForSelf-starter who can work independently and effectively manage time and priorities.Hands-on, practical problem solver with strong attention to detail.Team-oriented professional who enjoys collaborating across departments.Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and product development.Compensation & BenefitsPay: $95,000 - $110,000 per yearBenefits Include:401(k)401(k) Company MatchHealth InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO)Relocation AssistanceCareer Growth and Advancement OpportunitiesDISCLAIMERThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position.
