Summary:

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in managing academic projects, coordinating academic events, and providing essential support to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Academic Affairs Department. The Project Manager will be involved in all aspects of project management, from planning and budgeting to execution and communication.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Manage academic projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Coordinate academic events, including conferences, workshops, and seminars, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place.
  • Provide operational support to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, including but not limited to reports generation and presentations development as assigned.
  • Collaborate with departmental heads and faculty members to identify project needs and develop project plans accordingly.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or obstacles, proactively implementing solutions to mitigate them.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, timelines, and budget reports.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to optimize project management workflows.
  • Assist in the development of departmental policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of academic administration processes and procedures is preferred.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in project management or business administration required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of proven experience in project management, preferably in an academic or higher education setting.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification will be considered.
