What is Commission Math?

Commission Math refers to the calculations and methods used to determine the amount of commission earned by a salesperson or agent based on their sales, deals, or performance. It often involves applying a fixed percentage or a tiered structure to the value of sales made. Understanding Commission Math is essential for both employees and employers to ensure transparency and accuracy in compensation. These calculations can vary depending on company policies and the specific terms outlined in employment agreements.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in commission-based sales roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in commission-based sales roles often face challenges such as income variability, high performance pressure, and the need for strong self-motivation. Since earnings are directly tied to sales results, managing fluctuating income can be stressful, especially during slow periods. To address these challenges, successful sales professionals often develop strong organizational habits, build a robust pipeline of prospects, and seek feedback from peers or mentors. Many companies also offer ongoing sales training and supportive team environments to help employees thrive and advance in their careers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Commission Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in finance or accounting, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with commission management software, spreadsheets (such as Excel), and ERP systems is typically required, along with knowledge of compensation plans. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills help you manage complex data and clarify compensation structures. These skills ensure accurate commission calculations, prevent disputes, and support fair, efficient compensation processes.

Job description

FASTSIGNS of Eugene
Account Executive
$75K Base + Commission | Full-time | Eugene, OR

FASTSIGNS of Eugene is hiring a B2B Account Executive who knows how to prospect, follow up, and close.
You may already have 35 years of B2B sales experience. What you may not have yet is the right platform: an established local brand, a warm customer base, a strong production team, and a commission plan built for someone who wants to build a serious book of business.
We are a 20-person team ranked in the top 20 of 700+ FASTSIGNS locations worldwide, serving the Eugene market for over 10 years.
Why This Opportunity Is Different

  • You are not starting cold. We have 10 years of customer data and dormant accounts ready to be developed.
  • No territory ceiling. Develop a client with locations in multiple states you own that relationship.
  • The back end is supported. Our inside team handles estimating and scoping so you can focus on selling.
  • The base never steps down. Your $75K base stays flat as your commission accelerates on top of it.
Compensation

  • Base: $75,000 flat through all stages
  • Commission from month one
  • Year one realistic total comp: $95,000$100,000
  • Year two target: $115,000+
  • Year three and beyond: $150,000+
  • Uncapped upside
  • 50% employer-paid health insurance
  • PTO, 7 paid holidays, profit-sharing 401K, mileage reimbursement
We walk serious candidates through the commission math in detail.
What You'll Do

  • Drive daily outbound: calls, walk-ins, referrals, and targeted prospecting
  • Prospect into contractors, healthcare, hospitality, education, property management, and multi-location businesses
  • Conduct discovery meetings and build recurring accounts
  • Own relationships from first contact through close and every reorder
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline tracking in our CRM
Who We're Looking For

No sign industry experience required we train on product. What we cannot train is drive, follow-through, and comfort with daily outbound.
Ideal backgrounds: uniform/facility services, telecom, payroll or office technology, promotional products, building materials, or property services.
You should be able to describe your prospecting process in detail, point to quota attainment or rankings, and believe your daily activity should directly affect your income.
Ready to Apply?

Apply through this posting or reach out directly to Pete Knight-Sheen, Owner, at 541-255-0346. Strong candidates hear from us quickly.
