Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Enterprise Cloud Platforms Engineer in Boca Raton, FL.
Summary:
In this role, you are responsible for designing, building, and supporting enterprise compute platforms across hybrid environments, including on-premises data centers and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This role focuses on Google Compute Engine (GCE), virtualization technologies, and Unix/Linux environments, with an emphasis on automation, scalability, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the ability to translate architecture into production-ready solutions while driving standardization and modernization across infrastructure platforms.
Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and support compute platforms across hybrid environments (on-prem and Google Cloud Platform)
* Engineer and manage virtualization solutions including GCE, VMware (vSphere/vCenter), and IBM Power Systems (PowerVM)
* Lead infrastructure migrations (on-prem to cloud, cloud-to-cloud) using tools such as VMware HCX and native cloud frameworks
* Translate architectural designs into scalable, production-ready infrastructure solutions
* Build and maintain Linux-based systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE); Support AIX environments as needed
* Manage system performance, scalability, availability, and security across hybrid environments
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
* Drive automation for provisioning, configuration management, patching, and operational workflows
* Perform OS lifecycle management including patching, tuning, and security hardening
* Support IBM Power Systems infrastructure and AIX-based workloads
* Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term improvements for stability
* Collaborate with DevOps, application, and infrastructure teams to align platform capabilities
* Ensure compliance with enterprise security and configuration standards
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* Certifications: Cloud certifications (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure) preferred; Linux/Unix certifications (e.g., Red Hat) preferred; Additional technical certifications are a plus
* 5-8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or platform operations
* Experience working in enterprise-scale environments
* Experience with automation, scripting, and DevOps practices
* Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), particularly Google Compute Engine (GCE)
* Hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, vCenter; HCX preferred)
* Experience managing hybrid infrastructure environments (on-prem + cloud)
* Deep understanding of virtualization technologies (cloud-native and traditional)
* Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
* Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE)
* Solid understanding of compute, storage, and networking across x86 and enterprise platforms
* Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with IBM Power Systems (PowerVM) and AIX administration
* Experience with large-scale cloud migration initiatives
* Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains
* Knowledge of FinOps, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
