We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Configuration Specialist to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States - the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing the construction work plans and regular reporting on compliance and environmental permitting requirements.
We are working as the Delivery Partner along with team members and selected by the Gateway Development Commission to deliver this transformative project. The HTP is a critical component of the broader Gateway Program - one of the most ambitious and impactful transportation initiatives in the nation - and is designed to strengthen mobility, enhance resiliency, and ensure the long-term reliability of the Northeast Corridor.
The project encompasses the construction of a new, two-track rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River, along with the full rehabilitation of the existing 113-year-old North River Tunnel. This vital infrastructure supports more than 200,000 daily passengers via Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT and serves as a backbone for economic activity and connectivity between New York and New Jersey.
This is more than just a job - it's a once-in-a-generation opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant infrastructure program that will reshape rail transportation, drive sustainable economic growth, and improve regional accessibility for millions. As part of this high-performing, multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver excellence on one of the most technically complex and high-profile projects in the world.
If you're seeking to make a meaningful, lasting impact - while advancing your career alongside some of the best minds in the industry - this is your moment.
Role accountabilities:
GIS and BIM Integration
• Configure and maintain GIS databases and BIM models to support project planning, design, and construction phases.
• Ensure alignment between geospatial data and BIM deliverables across all HTP packages.
• Support the development of digital twins and spatial analytics for infrastructure components.
Technical Support and Systems Implementation
• Collaborate with the IT Manager and Technical Support Teams to deploy and maintain modeling software and geospatial tools.
• Provide application support for systems such as PMIS, Kahua, and other project platforms.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance project delivery.
Coordination and Documentation
• Participate in functional group steering committee meetings with GDC and SEP teams.
• Maintain and track original documents, check print files, and superseded revisions related to GIS and BIM outputs.
• Support document management workflows and ensure compliance with GDC's file retention policies.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
• Ensure all modeling and configuration activities comply with federal regulations and GDC standards.
• Contribute to internal audits and quality control reviews of geospatial and BIM data.
• Assist in preparing materials for change orders, operational modifications, and milestone reporting.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geomatics, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM modeling and GIS configuration for large infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in software such as Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Navisworks.
• Familiarity with PMIS platforms and federal transportation project requirements.
• Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with federally funded transportation projects.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols for infrastructure data.
• Ability to manage complex datasets and integrate multiple modeling platforms.
