Job description

At the heart of product innovation and development, our Systems Engineering Department transforms market demands into safe, certifiable, and competitive solutions and architectures. By collaborating closely with software, hardware, safety, and certification teams, we ensure every product meets the highest standards while adapting to fast-evolving market needs. Our mission is to enable seamless human-robot collaboration and deliver solutions that are safe, compliant, and ready for the future. Join us to shape the next generation of human-robot systems by owning system-level requirements, integration, and alignment, with architectural responsibilities as needed. If you thrive in cross-functional teamwork and technical excellence, you’ll find extraordinary opportunities with us.

Your Mission & Challenges
  • Own Safety Architecture: Develop, implement, and maintain functional safety concepts across system, hardware, and software levels for robotic applications — from concept through deployment and field operation
  • Lead Safety Analysis: Drive hazard and risk assessment (HARA), FMEA/FMEDA, FTA, analyses tailored to collaborative and autonomous robotic systems. Produce and maintain key deliverables: Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Safety Requirement Specifications, and validation reports. Generate mature Safety Concepts and support closely their implementation
  • Enforce Compliance: Ensure conformity with applicable safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 10218) and the Machinery Directive. Support audits, third-party assessments, and certification processes
  • Bridge Disciplines: Collaborate with system architects, embedded SW, HW, and controls engineers to define, allocate, and validate safety-critical requirements across all subsystems and interfaces
  • Advance Safety Practice: Continuously evolve safety processes and methods to address emerging robotic technologies — including AI-based perception, autonomous navigation, and dynamic human-robot collaboration
What We Can Look Forward To (Core Competencies)
  • Education: MSc or PhD in Robotics, Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline. TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (FSE) certification or equivalent is a strong plus
  • Track Record: 3+ years in functional safety engineering for safety-related systems at system, software, and hardware level — ideally in robotics, industrial automation, or automotive. Hands-on experience with safety lifecycle execution per IEC 61508, ISO 13849 or ISO26262
  • Standards Fluency: Strong working knowledge of ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, and ISO 10218. Familiarity with ISO 26262 and SOTIF (ISO/PAS 21448) for perception-based safety functions is highly valued
  • Safety Reasoning: Analysis and ability to synthesize functional safety concepts into coherent architectures — from hazard identification through SIL/PL determination to safety requirement allocation. Skilled in HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA, with proficiency in tools such as Medini or BTC, and traceability environments (DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
  • Cross-Functional Strength: Proven ability to coordinate across hardware, embedded software, controls, and certification teams in complex, multidisciplinary development environments. Strong communication skills to convey safety concepts effectively across diverse teams
