This is a full-time, onsite role based at our headquarters in Denver, CO.
As a Systems Engineer, you will apply your skills to define requirements, execute architectural design analyses, manage complex system interfaces, and lead verification and validation on fusion energy systems. Your activities will span risk management, configuration and data management, integrated test planning, technical performance measurement management, and lifecycle baseline management. We are looking for our engineers to apply their technical expertise, problem solving skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact the future of energy!
Responsibilities
  • Carry out systems engineering activities in accordance with tailored system engineering standards and practices.
  • Develop, manage and allocate systems requirements & interfaces
  • Manage and execute gated design and operational reviews including PDR and CDR
  • Drive and coordinate technical decision making
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure risk mitigation plans are developed and implemented
  • Develop, review, and assess verification artifacts
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple teams to ensure the system is holistically optimized
  • Develop strategies & approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) integration, analysis and verification

Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or other technical field (e.g. mechanical, electrical, systems, etc.)
  • Experience: 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience working on development programs for large, complex, integrated systems - preferably from the fusion, aerospace, or space and defense industry
  • Proficiency in executing at least two of the following SE activities:
    • Requirements Development; Architectural Design; Interface Management; V&V; System Analysis; Risk Management; Configuration Management
  • Experience with systems engineering tools (Jira, Confluence, Flow, Teamcenter)
  • Great communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrated execution and coordination skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylum.

Desired
  • Experience with high energy laser systems, optics or fusion energy systems
  • INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience
  • Basic project management skills including labor estimating and schedule management
  • Demonstrated configuration management experience
  • Demonstrated Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience

$140,000 - $170,000 a year
Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California Equal Pay Act.
