Job Summary
As a leader on the Specialty Design & Storytelling team within Key's KeyXD group, the Senior AI Systems Designer is responsible for shaping how AI shows up across experiences at KeyBank-defining where AI should assist, where it should act, and how people stay meaningfully in the loop.
In this role, you will help distinguish AI-enabled enhancements from truly AI-native experiences, define practical human-AI collaboration models, and turn emerging capabilities into clear product and service concepts. You'll work hands-on with product, design, and business partners to develop experience artifacts such as strategic blueprints, operational workflows, and evaluation standards, while helping establish the governance frameworks needed to make AI experiences trustworthy, usable, and compliant at scale.
Essential Functions
  • Shape AI Experience Strategy: Guide AI and agentic experience strategy, identifying where AI should streamline workflows, where it should introduce new forms of interaction, and how those choices support user trust and business value.
  • Lead Human-AI Experience Design: Define human-AI collaboration models and partner closely with product, design, business, and engineering teams to concept, prototype, and refine AI-enabled and AI-native experiences.
  • Develop Trust, Measurement & Governance: Create experience artifacts such as strategice blueprints and operational workflows, work with data & analytics teams to define evaluation scorecards, and help define governance frameworks that make AI systems transparent, auditable, and aligned to regulatory and risk requirements.
  • Support Adoption & Enablement: Help teams adopt AI in practical, responsible ways by defining new ways of working, building shared understanding, and identifying how time saved through AI can be reinvested as roles evolve-shifting employee capacity toward higher-value judgment, creativity, and relationship-based work.
  • Mitigate Cognitive Load: Design against review fatigue and automation bias in Human-in-the-loop (HITL) systems.

Education
  • B.A./B.S. in Human Centered Design, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in design-led organizations, with a focus on complex system design.
  • Proven track record in high-stakes, regulated environments (e.g., Healthcare, Enterprise SaaS, Fintech).
  • Working fluency with LLMs, agentic workflows, RAG systems, conversational AI, and related orchestration patterns.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Portfolio: Must demonstrate expertise in ecosystem mapping, UX research, and designing for non-deterministic outcomes.

Skills
  • AI Experience Strategy: Ability to translate business needs, user journeys, and technical capabilities into clear AI-enabled and AI-native experience approaches.
  • Regulatory Design Thinking: Treating governance and compliance as a business driver and creative constraint.
  • Hands-On Concept Development: Ability to work directly with product, design, business, and engineering partners to prototype, test, and evolve AI experiences from concept through implementation direction.

Physical Demands
  • General Office: Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in-person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.
