About the Role: Muir Wood Teen Treatment is hiring an experienced, licensed therapist for our adolescent residential treatment program in Riverside. This is a primary therapist seeing clients day-to-day, with the gravitas and experience to serve as second in command to the Clinical Director — a trusted advisor to the team, providing guidance and an extra layer of clinical support when cases need it. It's also a natural path toward future clinical leadership for the right person.

What You'll Do:

- Carry a full clinical caseload — individual, family, and group therapy for adolescents and families

- Serve as a trusted partner with the Clinical Director and clinical team

- Step into clinical decision-making and leadership coverage in the Clinical Director's absence

- Supervise AMFT, APCC, and ASW clinicians working toward licensure

- Support therapists with case conceptualization, treatment planning, family work, and complex clinical decisions

- Help lead treatment team meetings, case consultations, and shift huddles

- Coach and mentor therapists, recovery counselors, care coordinators, and shift supervisors in real time

- Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, educators, and residential staff

- Support admissions, discharges, utilization review, and transitions of care

- Maintain compliance with CCL, Joint Commission, payer, and documentation standards

- Participate in the leadership on-call rotation


The Lead Therapist will work Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday, which will be determined through discussion during the hiring process.

Requirements:

What We're Looking For:

Must Have:

- Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or MFT

- Active CA license: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PhD, or PsyD

- Meets California requirements to supervise associate clinicians

- 3+ years in adolescent residential treatment, psychiatric care, or another intensive behavioral health setting

- Experience supervising, mentoring, or informally leading other clinicians

- Strong background in trauma-informed care, family therapy, and complex co-occurring needs


Preferred:

- Prior experience as a Clinical Lead, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Clinical Director, or Program Director

- Training in DBT, CBT, EMDR, or motivational interviewing

- Familiarity with CCL and Joint Commission standards
