AutoCAD Draftsman / Estimatorr – Design and Bid High-End Residential Electrical Systems

Job Overview

  • Location: Onsite - Houston, TX.

  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.

The Opportunity

You will be the technical bridge between vision and execution, transforming complex residential needs into precise, buildable electrical designs. This role offers the unique opportunity to leverage your field expertise and analytical skills to drive the Design & Technical division's success. Your accuracy in estimating and design will directly impact the company's profitability and the quality of our high-end installations.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Analyze electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to produce highly accurate project take-offs and proposals.

  • Develop detailed electrical layouts using CAD and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Bluebeam Revu.

  • Translate client requirements into functional designs that strictly adhere to NEC codes and residential installation best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with sales teams to ensure project bids are both competitive and technically sound.

  • Calculate material costs and labor requirements using specialized electrical estimating software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Manage multiple bidding opportunities simultaneously while maintaining strict adherence to project deadlines and accuracy standards.

  • Evaluate project tracking data to refine future estimates and improve the overall efficiency of the Design & Technical division.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • 4+ years of experience in electrical estimating or drafting or a closely related technical role

  • Proficiency in electrical estimating software and Microsoft Excel for detailed take-offs.

  • Experience with and understanding lighting controls and fixture specifications.

  • Hands-on experience creating or interpreting electrical layouts in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar tools.

  • In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and residential electrical materials.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on field experience in residential electrical or mechanical systems (wiring, panels, hvac, or lighting)

  • 2+ years of professional estimating experience specifically in residential or light commercial projects

  • College coursework in Construction Management or a related technical field.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight bidding deadlines.

  • Being bilingual in Spanish is a major plus.
