Job description

Accounting Specialist
Location: Kalispell, MT (Hybrid/In-Office Option Available)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Compensation: starting at $23/hour DOE
We're A Different Kind of Accounting Firm
At Elevated Advisory & Accounting, we're not a transactional, box-checking firm. We take a concierge-style, human-first approach - meaning we don't just process numbers, we understand the businesses behind them. We're outcome-oriented, proactive, and always looking for smarter, more innovative ways to deliver real value. We meet our clients where they are and help them rise higher - with clarity, strategy, and confidence. That same mindset shapes our internal culture. We collaborate. We communicate clearly. We take ownership. And we expect each team member to think critically, move work forward, and care about the impact they're making.
If you want to build a meaningful career at a firm that values initiative, innovation, and real relationships, you'll feel right at home here.
Who Thrives Here
This role is not for someone who simply completes assigned tasks and waits for direction.
It's for someone who manages themselves as well as they manage their work.
Is Self-Led & Forward-Moving
You don't wait to be told what to do. If something feels unclear, incomplete, or inefficient, you move it forward. You ask thoughtful questions, propose solutions, and follow through until it's resolved. You manage your time and priorities intentionally, without needing constant oversight.
Is Comfortable with Ambiguity
Accounting requires precision - but it's not always black and white. Client situations evolve. Information can be incomplete. Priorities shift. You stay calm, think critically, and make sound decisions even when the path isn't perfectly defined.
Takes Ownership of Outcomes
You don't just "do the work." You own the result. You close loops. You communicate proactively. You take responsibility for your client portfolio, your deadlines, and your workflow - ensuring things move forward without reminders.
Communicates Exceptionally
You build trust through clarity and consistency. Clients and teammates always know where things stand. You anticipate questions before they're asked and keep stakeholders informed.
Is Growth-Oriented
You want a career, not just a job. You welcome feedback. You refine your systems. You actively pursue development and enjoy improving your craft.
Manages Multiple Priorities Without Dropping Details
You can balance competing deadlines while maintaining precision and professionalism. You know how to prioritize what matters most and structure your day to meet expectations.
Your Impact
Drive Client Financial Success
You'll manage a portfolio of clients and take responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of their financial information.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial reports
  • Process payroll with precision and compliance
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Communicate proactive updates and identify issues early
  • Maintain strong, trust-based client relationships

This isn't a "wait to be told" kind of role. We need someone who naturally moves work forward, stays on top of their clients, and makes sure things don't quietly stall.
Deliver Technical Excellence
  • Enter and reconcile transactions accurately
  • Collect and process payroll data, calculate deductions, and submit required filings
  • Prepare clear, reliable financial statements for decision-making
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and payroll tax regulations
  • Support special projects and firm initiatives as needed

We value precision but we also value judgement. When something doesn't add up, you investigate, communicate, and resolve it.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 2+ years of payroll and bookkeeping experience (public accounting preferred)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, deductions, commissions, and tax filings
  • Experience with bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
  • Thorough understanding of payroll laws and IRS compliance requirements
  • Experience with Google Workspace

What Success Looks Like Here
  • You proactively communicate before being asked.
  • You take full ownership of your client portfolio.
  • You close loops and follow through consistently.
  • You look for better systems - not just completed tasks.
  • You don't just flag problems, you propose solutions.
  • You contribute to a team that steps up for one another.

What We Offer
Competitive Benefits
  • 7 Paid Holidays (including your birthday!)
  • PTO accrual after 3 months of employment
  • Simple IRA with up to 3% employer match
  • Professional certification support & performance bonuses
  • Traditional Group Health Insurance with 50% premium coverage (employee-only)
  • Revive Wellness Benefit (100% employer-paid): Telehealth primary care, access to up to 1,000 covered medications, and personalized health management support - no copays, no deductibles, zero out-of-pocket cost
  • Monthly Phone Reimbursement: $35/month toward your mobile phone expenses

A Place to Grow
  • Mentorship from our growth-focused CEO
  • Clear career advancement pathways
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Exposure to a wide variety of industries and business models

We are looking for someone who wants to build a future here. Growth and leadership opportunities expand with consistent ownership and initiative.
Culture That Makes Work Fun
  • Convenient downtown Kalispell location
  • Hybrid or in-office flexibility after the designated training period
  • Full remote work setup provided
  • Flexible scheduling within reason
  • Fully stocked kitchen with snacks and beverages
  • Team events and celebrations
  • Comfortable and elevated casual dress code

And just as important as the perks - we're genuinely collaborative. We step in for each other. We communicate openly. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We celebrate the wins and support each other through the challenges.
