Job description

CTDI is a large-scale Engineering, Repair, and Logistics company that services the country's largest wireless telecommunications providers, as well as the largest High-speed Internet & Cable providers. AT CTDI, the team never designs the same machine twice. We conceptualize, design, build, test, and use our own innovative robotic systems to satisfy our growing and challenging needs. We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Engineer with experience industrial robots. You will work with electrical engineers, test design engineers, controls engineers, and software engineers to design and develop novel Robotic and non-robotic test systems which no one ever thought possible for consumer electronic products.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, program, and commission ABB and UR robotic systems for automated manufacturing and material handling.
  • Create and optimize robot paths, sequences, and routines to improve cycle times and system reliability.
  • Integrate robot controllers with Beckhoff PLCs and other automation equipment.
  • Design and implement automation logic using Beckhoff TwinCAT or similar environments.
  • Interface robotic systems with sensors, vision systems, conveyors, and HMIs.
  • Develop Python scripts and tools for system monitoring, data collection, diagnostics, or simulation.
  • Support communication between robots, PLCs, and higher-level systems.
  • Participate in installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of robotic cells.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and software) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide technical support, documentation, and training to maintenance or production staff.
  • Up to 25% travel

Qualifications
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in ABB RobotStudio and URSim / PolyScope programming environments.
  • Strong understanding of Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC programming and EtherCAT communication.
  • Experience with machine vision (Cognex, Keyence, or OpenCV-based systems).
  • Knowledge of safety systems and standards (ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06).
  • Experience with motion control, servo drives, or HMI design.
  • Experience with Python for scripting, data processing, or automation control.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP).
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and system integration skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in industrial robotics or automation engineering.
