The Commissary Kitchen, or Food Lab, is a high-volume food production facility on Madison's east side that serves all of our Wisconsin restaurant locations. We're hiring part-time and full-time Food Production Supervisors to join the team!

Production Supervisor Job Duties and Expectations

Working as the Production Supervisor, you'll oversee all aspects of the shifts you are on, ensuring accurate and timely production, product quality, order fulfillment, produce ordering, and staffing. You direct and delegate work to general staff members, while also maintaining proper staffing and cut/add labor as appropriate. You ensure each station is following standards for food safety, product quality, cleanliness, and stocking/organization.

You'll work side by side with your team! You'll prepare sauces, dressings, meats, and vegetables for our restaurant locations while ensuring accurate packaging and labeling. We have a high standard for cleanliness and quality, so you'll need to follow instructions and protocols carefully and train and hold others accountable to do the same.

As far as administrative tasks, you need to track the ongoing development of employee performance on shift, use store administrative/organizational tools such as Google Docs, Sheets and Gmail, and attend Team and Lab Leadership meetings.

This is a high-volume production kitchen - be ready to do things like prepare and grill pounds of chicken for hours! The team will support you and add some fun along the way. We pinky promise!

Production Supervisor Job Requirements

If you're a team player who brings high effort and a positive attitude to every shift, we want to hear from you!

  • Must have 1+ years of experience working in production kitchens or catering.
  • Cross-trained in, or have a solid understanding of, all production kitchen positions: fresh prep, meat and sauce production, delivery, and dishwashing.
  • Able to train and motivate people through training and hold them accountable to high standards for quality and consistency.
  • Able to work independently, comfortable with routine, repetitive tasks.
  • Able to stand, walk, be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift up to 30lbs regularly and 50lbs on occasion.
  • Able to tolerate touching and being around allergens such as gluten, dairy, eggs, etc.
  • Comfortable using ovens, knives, kitchen tools, and other equipment.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures.
  • Comfortable working and communicating in loud, fast-paced working environments.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work for early start times.
  • Must be 18+ years old to apply.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (IDs required at Orientation).

Production Scheduling

The Commissary Kitchen operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6AM - 8PM and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays from 6AM - 2PM.

Ideal production supervisor candidates will be available to work 1-2 afternoon shifts per week (12PM - 8PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) and 2 Saturday shifts per month (6AM - 2PM).
