Description:

Flat Branch Bank is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional to join our growing Commercial Credit Team. This role is responsible for analyzing creditworthiness for commercial lending relationships, supporting the commercial lending team, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

This position is open to candidates who live within driving distance of Columbia, Missouri or who reside within the St. Louis, Missouri MSA. The role may be on-site in Columbia or remote for candidates located in one of these two areas. We are not considering applicants who live outside the state of Missouri, unless they have firm plans to relocate to either the Columbia area or the St. Louis MSA.


Core Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Underwriting

  • Spread and analyze financial statements, tax returns, balance sheets, and income statements
  • Assess borrower’s cash flow, leverage, repayment capacity, collateral, and overall credit risk
  • Evaluate industry trends, management quality, and financial performance

Credit Administration & Portfolio Management

  • Prepare detailed credit memorandums and loan presentations outlining transaction strengths, weaknesses, risks, and recommended loan structure
  • Monitor existing loan relationships, including covenant compliance and annual reviews
  • Identify and report early warning signs of potential credit deterioration
  • Review downgraded loans to ensure proper collateral valuations and documentation

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure loan structures and underwriting decisions comply with bank policy, regulations, and industry standards
  • Prepare monthly Board reports, technical exception reports, and non-conforming loan reports
  • Maintain credit files and monitor documentation and financial statement requirements
  • Assist with appraisal ordering, review, and vendor communication
  • Perform compliance audits and special projects as assigned
  • Stay current on regulatory and policy changes affecting commercial lending and assist with internal training

Additional Duties

  • Support the commercial lending team and Executive Team as needed
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned
Requirements:

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • Formal credit training with 2+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis, loan review, auditing, or financial analysis
  • Deep understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and credit risk evaluation. Understands business implications of decisions. Displays orientation to profitability. Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition. Aligns work to strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in financial spreading software, risk analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to lenders, management, committees, and Board members
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with regulators, auditors, consultants, customers, and team members
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
