About the Opportunity

Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Leasing Attorney to join a leading global law firm’s Real Estate Group. This role offers the chance to work on sophisticated leasing matters across a variety of property types, including office, retail, industrial, and life sciences. The position is available in multiple major U.S. markets.


Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as lead attorney in drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements (transfer consents, SNDAs, lender subordination agreements, letters of intent, work letters, etc.)

  • Supervise junior leasing attorneys and provide guidance on complex matters

  • Interact directly with clients, opposing counsel, brokers, property managers, and other stakeholders

  • Deliver efficient, business-oriented solutions that align with clients’ objectives


Qualifications
  • JD from an accredited law school

  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of the office applied for

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial leasing and related agreements

  • Strong background in landlord representation across multiple property types

  • Excellent negotiating, drafting, and analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines efficiently


Desired Skills
  • Deep understanding of commercial leasing markets and “market” terms for various lease structures

  • Experience with life sciences leases is a plus

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
