Job description

Solid Rock Recruiting: The #1 Commercial Drywall Recruiter in the USA

Position: Project Executive
Industry: Commercial Drywall
Location: Chicago, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: 50%+ local project and client visits – No overnight travel

The Opportunity

A growing commercial drywall contractor in the Chicago market is expanding its New Construction division and adding a Project Executive to the leadership team.

This is not a back-office role.

You will step into an active backlog of awarded work, support new projects coming online, and take ownership of client relationships and project delivery. The internal PM/APM team handles much of the operational workload — this role is about leadership, presence, and execution.

If you are polished, relationship-driven, and experienced running large commercial drywall projects, this is built for you.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee new construction projects from award through closeout
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, GCs, and key partners
• Visit active jobsites regularly and stay visible in the field
• Lead change order negotiations and resolve high-level project issues
• Ensure schedule, budget, and quality targets are achieved
• Represent the company with professionalism and authority

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in commercial drywall project management
• Strong communicator with a customer-first mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining field presence
• Comfortable owning relationships, not just paperwork
• Driven, decisive, and confident in client-facing settings
