Summary of Functions

As a Senior LMR (Land Mobile Radio) Technician at Air Comm, you will play a pivotal role in the installation and maintenance of wireless communications systems. You will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our clients, utilizing your technical expertise to deliver imaginative solutions tailored to their requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and support wireless communications systems, including complex radio systems for public safety and enterprise customers.
  • Create high-level programming code plugs for systems such as P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, and Repeaters.
  • Provide system recommendations and designs that align with customer requirements.
  • Diagnose, repair, program, and install LMR RF equipment.
  • Demonstrate a complex understanding of two-way radio theory and RF propagation characteristics across various frequency bands.
  • Conduct installations and servicing of complex wireless communications systems, including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, and microwave systems.
  • Utilize proficiency in IP networking and RF design and engineering principles.
  • Operate test equipment such as communications service monitors, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters.
  • Utilize MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Experience/Education

  • Two plus years of experience in creating high-level programming code plugs, installing, and servicing complex wireless communications systems, and providing system recommendations.
  • Professional electronics background.
  • Proven experience in operating test equipment (Communications Service Monitors, Watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, Multimeters)
  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain the ability to pass background checks and obtain security clearances, as well as possess and maintain a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
  • Company will provide additional training, as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to be on-call.
  • Familiarity with IP networking.
  • Familiarity With RF Design and Engineering
  • Possessing Complex Understanding of Two-Way Radio Theory and RF Propagation Characteristics at Various Frequency Bands
  • Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Air Comm’s customers and subcontractor partner community and Air Comm Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.
  • Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of configuration and testing of channel banks, routers, hubs, and switches.
  • Ability to develop and present technical training.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills, and creativity applied to resolution of issues.

  • Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.

  • When on project sites or if performing some types of work activity wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.
