Job description

Clearsite Industrial Services is a leading provider of hydrovac and vacuum excavation solutions, dedicated to safe dig practices and efficient project execution. Based in Richmond, Virginia, our team partners with clients across the region to deliver reliable and high-quality excavation services using a modern fleet of vacuum hydrovac trucks.
As a JetVac Combo Unit & Hydrovac Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of field operations. You will operate specialized equipment to perform sewer cleaning, daylighting, trenching, and targeted excavation, all while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and equipment integrity.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate JetVac combination units and hydrovac equipment to execute sewer cleaning, daylighting, trenching, and excavation tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Set up and manage work zones, implement traffic control measures, and maintain site housekeeping standards.
  • Identify utilities and confirm safe excavation procedures before commencing dig operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on jet/vac and hydrovac systems; perform DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip checks.
  • Document work activities accurately, including job tickets, manifests, disposal paperwork, and site condition notes; communicate progress and changes with supervisors and customers.
  • Uphold OSHA and DOT safety standards, enforce proper PPE usage, participate in safety briefings, and promptly report incidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid CDL Class A or B with Tanker endorsement
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform outdoor field work in varying weather conditions
  • Experience troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel systems
  • Solid knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety requirements for field operations
  • Experience performing DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Ability to travel daily to client sites within approximately a 1-hour radius of Richmond, VA
  • Availability to work nights and occasional weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of relevant hydrovac, jetting, or vacuum excavation operating experience
  • Experience operating JetVac combo units or hydrovac equipment, or similar high-pressure jetting and vacuum systems
  • Traffic control and work zone setup experience
