Job description

Columbia Western Machinery is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team! Job Responsibilities:

Position will diagnose and repair equipment and allied products at customer locations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing and diagnosing (troubleshooting) equipment malfunctions or failures.
  • Repairing, replacing, and/or rebuilding engines, transmissions, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and air systems.
  • Welding and fabrication as required.
  • Determine the correct parts needed to complete the task, order them promptly from the Parts Department, and return all unused parts promptly.
  • Maintaining driving records per state laws.
  • Communicating courteously and effectively with customers regarding all aspects of the work.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of mechanical experience working on all makes and models of heavy equipment to work in the field.
  • Must have a Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record
  • Must have own tools
  • Must submit to background and motor vehicles record screenings
  • Must be assertive, a self-starter, and able to work without direct supervision
  • Detail-oriented & carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
  • Dedicated to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity
