Summary:
Machinists are responsible for using milling machines, grinders, lathes, and other machine tools to produce precision metal parts. They interpret blueprints and specifications, calculate the appropriate areas for boring or cutting, determine optimal speeds, and plan the sequence of operations. Machinists also detect and troubleshoot issues by identifying specific noises or excessive vibrations during machine operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working according to the production schedule and meet due dates
  • Safely and efficiently operate a variety of machines
  • Basic ability to read and interpret prints
  • Understand and calculate appropriate feeds and speed
  • Inventory control of machine parts
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
